Brown vs Lambert

Simple question really; who do you think has contributed more to Celtic's success, between our current captain and one of the most prominent and talented Celtic midfielders of the modern era?

I'm aware that Brown still plays for us of course, but I'm asking this now because Broony has been here for roughly the same amount of time that Lambert was and both men have achieved a lot of success with the club to date.

Brown:

Years at the club - 6 (2007-present)

SPL Championships - 3
Scottish Cups - 1
League Cups - 1
Last 16 of the Champions League - 2

Lambert:

Years at the club - 8 (1997-2005)

SPL Championships - 4
Scottish Cups - 3
League Cups - 2
Last 16 of the Champions League - 0

Clear for everybody to see that Lambert has won more trophies than Brown thus far, but crucially, he never got beyond the group stages of the Champions League with Celtic, something that Brown has done twice now (once under Strachan, once under Lennon).

You also have to bear in mind that Brown will win his 4th SPL Championship next season (barring a miracle) and equal Lambert's tally of titles. Brown could also win his 2nd Scottish Cup in two weeks.

 

Yeah, it's Lambert for me. He was good enough in his prime to play for pretty much any club in Europe. I can't say that about Brown.

Again, I think Lambert won his titles during a tougher period in Scottish football.

 

I voted for Lambert myself mate, just interested to see the different views people have when it comes to comparing these two.

 

Lambert,was a top player,Dortmund and what he did there need I say any more...
But for us I used to love Paul lambert passing was underrated aswell as had a great engine...

By the way I'm no brown basher,always liked broony never slated him but lambert was a better player...

You have to remember Lambert captained us to Seville as well, think that would be worth mentioning in the OP which, to me anyway, is more significant than making the last 16 of the CL.

all jokes aside, and they don't come bigger than Burley, there really is no contest. Paul Lambert was head and shoulders above most in Scotland when he was here and was a real top class player. How many Scots can say they won a European Cup?

I was over the moon when we signed Lambert, and next to Mjallby he was one of my all time favourite players.

I think Lambert could have played for anyone. The last world class Scottish player. He had everything you'd want in a central midfielder.
