When I first saw that there was heavy speculation linking us to Brown, I was delighted. However, when I saw the £4.4 million fee that was being banded around, I was slightly shocked.

    Does this;

    a) Show us that the board are willing to invest in a few very good players and there are more to come i.e. Appiah....

    b) We have spent a huge chunk of the budget on a very talented, but largely untried, youngster which will not leave much for other areas such as a new striker??

Intresting to hear your thoughts bhoys and ghirls. I personally am praying that it is a case of 'a)' and that the summer will be an exciting one!:50:

    I hope it's a) personally.......

But....I also beleive that £4.4M is way too much to be spending on Brown!

Sky just said his agent has said he 'has' joined but it just sounds like a vartiaton on the 'will join' quote earlier on BBC.

4.4 mill is far too much to spend on him, hopefully we have like 20mill to spend to bring in the likes of appiah, bellamy etc.

I think it is a sign that we mean business. There will surely be plenty more where that came from.

now we have our debt down, if not cleared, we cant accuse the board of not giving us what we have craved for years,
consistant and substantial investment in the team, also in the face of beating off 14 other teams is quite a turn round, not just financially, but more importantly in the football world, our stock is soaring, and in buying players of quality and spending appropriately, yet, still banking large sums of money, which is more importantly, a great source of responsibility which will not go un-noticed in the money markets, where our old business mis-management made us a laughing stock, makes celtic possibly one of the best investment bets you'll find in european football,
i now trust that the board have found their own mix of football and business, which i do believe will have us dominating scottish football for a decade,
it could take rankers 5-7 years to get to the position we are in right now.
on and off the field, as for, its too much money on brown, if we have a budget, it would appear they are going to spend it on the right men, and dont forget ,a players value is projected in what a club pay for him and i for one think he'll be worth it.
plus, we can rub the huns noses right in it ,as murray is dragging the knuckle scrapers along, and, their running up a blind alley with their hands in their pockets, dumb * !!!!!!!!!!! hail hail
a final word for the huns............................liquidation ! now how would that go down.

    I THINK ITS A)

REASON BEING STARCHAN KNOWS THAT THE MIDFIELD ISNT THE ARE WE NEED TO UPGRADE...MOST. SO I DOUBT HE WOULD SPEND MOST OF HIS MONEY ON IMPROVING A GOODISH AREA AND LEAVING THE OTHERS

It great the board are realising if you invest in the team, you make it all back in the CL - without going over board. I think the board are finally showing some ambition, while being thrifty and clever in some areas.

Its all good, im confident about the team that will walk out for the first game next season.

ditto, this is a statement of intent i think, as normally, as we get into the pre-season the more costlier transfers come last ,but the same would do again please.:celt_2:

lol this proves that people on here are nevr happy.
4.5m spent on brown- the HOTTEST property in scotland EPL teams wanting him and yet, because hes scottish , only comes from hibs, 4.5m is too much. you'd all rather have some guys name you's canny spell and havn't ever seen before
imagine it was some brazilion from santos with a "good" name whos 21 and signed a 5 year contract for 4.5m you's would all be in awe of him. making up chants for him before hes even wore the strip.

Here Here! If we were to compile a video of good clips from Brown and then from an unknown player from the Bundesliga or La Liga I'd imagine the majority would go for the foreigner. Brown is the most wanted Scottish player playing in the SPL and we got him, ok so he wasn't cheap, but we've all seen what he can do. I reckon he'll make a grand player for us!

Agreed, people usually want foreigners than homegrowns,
C'mon Brown, time to really shine!
