Double post and I'm sorry about that but just want to add: Some fans need to chill with the 10mill is a great offer malarkey. If we keep succumbing to this mentality then we will be bent over and shagged all the time.

Listen, if the balls in your court, then it's in your court. If they want it- let them come get it.

it's not what price we rate him in. it's what peter lawwell and the bidding club agree to.
and the £10m seems to be in the ballpark. maybe higher or lower.

    Exactly.

£10m seems to be some sort of "glass ceiling" for the amount we can get for our top talent.

    Bollocks.

    Who's ballpark? :97:

The only ever quote that has been mentioned by Lennon or Lawwell have ever mentioned is £25m.

All this talk of Arsenal etc bidding for him is paper talk - people are rating what we can get for Wanyama based on * rag stories...........does that mean that we should be happy with getting £4m for Forster (as reported)?

The dude is gone this summer the question is for how much. Anything less than 15 M Celtic seriously need to thumb their nose at.

Fair enough if that's your opinion.

Celtic would be absolutely * mental to jump at the first offer for a guy who still has a decent amount of time left on his contract.

I know it's been said to death but I'm glad you're no where near the club at board room level.

    Obviously.

Lawwell might be a bit of a *, but he's no idiot.

If teams are prepared to come in with original bids of £10m, it's quite logica to expect them to come in with higher bids.............

    Anyway - you've set your heart on £10m - happy days :50:

12M would be decent I suppose.

I was hoping for 15-20 though.

    12M and a 50% sell-on fee.

Let's be realistic. We are not getting 15-25 million for Wanyama. We would probably accept 8 million for him.

Anything over £12 million would be really good.

I think he'll stay, keeping both Hooper and Forster is another big task.

If it comes down to losing either Wanyama, Hooper or Forster, I'd rather lose Victor and keep the other two.

The big man has been great here in the past two seasons, but we're going to hopefully get a * load of cash for him when the time comes for him to move on to the EPL or wherever he's planning on going. We're talking anywhere between £12m-£15m and for a club playing in the SPL, that is huge.

Bolded text is what I'd say. I'd lower it to a 25% sell on though.

With out any kind of sell on clause, then opening bids should be £15mil min. :shamrock:

For all the chances we've taken trying to find gems at super cheap prices, we finally hit the jackpot. Money can't guarantee success. World class players can.

As soon as we find one, do we just usher him out the door, only seeing the dollar signs and freaking out at the first sign of Bosman Rule pressure.

We didn't pay much for them, so the risk is minimal.

It's also easier for us to pick up players who don't have big transfer fees because somehow monetary value is highlighted in the press, word gets out, big clubs jump in.

So, the outlay on players could be 6-7 million.

Do we really need to bring in £16million on the sales of Hooper and Wanyama to spend 6-7 million?

The sale of Hooper is more than enough, if that needs to be done, which looks likely.

Wanyama is effectively like having an extra man on the park. His game looks so simple, but the elements to his all round game are so unbelievably rare and impossible to teach, and you can't teach good genetics.

In a years time Wanyama is still gonna be worth a lot of money and the guy's not hit his best form yet. Remember that for a minute.

Also have a think back to how we might have fared against Benfica and Barca without Wanyama confusing the * out of some of the best players around.
