You know the old saying, never let sentiment get in the way when it comes to business. His move to Chelsea was strictly business, and I would probably have made the same move if it were me.

I wouldn't. John Terry's probably the last youngster Chelsea brought through.

He was never going to have a chance down there.

Chelsea are notoriously * with their youth's and you barely ever get any of them breaking through which makes him going there even more stupid.

You just have to look at their 'hugely rated' youngsters in recent years:

Gael Kakuta - Onto his 6th loan move now, 23 years old. They nearly got a transfer ban for getting this guy because they wanted him that much. Just 16 appearances for Cheslea.

Lucas Piazon - 3rd loan spell, nearly 21 years old. Just 3 appearances for Chelsea.

Patrick Bamford - 3rd loan spell, 21 years old. Never played for Chelsea's first team.

    Henrik Larsson (obvious choice ehh?)
Said that before about the faux outrage people show and how its disrespectful to Tommy. He/we were the last in line to help him, his family already had a whole host of people fighting on their side. They would have stayed here regardless of our input. Ours was not out of sentiment - it was business. He was a great we player, he was getting taken and we wanted him to stay.

Really, you SCOTTISH Daibhi would do the same?

I can understand this lad, he's from Africa, was probably really poor growing up, as were his family and his extended family probably still are. Football is short and he would have (with influence) wanted to make as much money as possible - probably on about £5k a week at Chelsea. But as someone who has grown up in this country or at least Britain, surely you would be smarter and think twice?

If he had knuckled down, worked hard and kept his act together he'd have found it a lot easier to earn a contract with another EPL side than he would if he had worked through our ranks I think.

A promising Chelsea youngster is probably regarded higher down south than a decent player in our squad.

as much as I don't like the disrespectful wee git it was his decision ... fortunately it hasn't really helped his career .

Why would someone from Africa consider money to be important but someone from Glasgow be different? Nationality doesn't really play a part in the decision making process, does it?

If I was a professional footballer I'd be willing to move anywhere that I deemed to be of benefit to my career in general, and where I was offered the most money.

As I mentioned above, a promising youngster in the Chelsea squad would probably be held in higher regard by other EPL sides than a player at Celtic (unless you were really good, on a Wanyama, Forster type level).

I'd happily take the money on offer at Chelsea, enjoy the obviously high levels of coaching that would be available, the opportunity to even train and mingle with their first team squad and try my best to make the team.

If I failed there, another lower end EPL side would likely be willing to offer me a shot, and the wages even then would likely be higher than I'd make at Celtic.

It wouldn't really be a difficult choice to make I feel.

There was a lot more than Chelsea after him, I know that he had offers on the table from almost every Premeirship club outside of Manchester United.

    He chose Chelsea.

There must have been a reason for that though, eh? Offering more money maybe? I heard they paid for a penthouse flat nearby the stadium for him apparently.

I hope he becomes a star.

He's a * for the things he's done. But Tommy Burns deserves world recognition for how he developed and saved him.

Tommy will never get any recognition for it anyway, Chelsea will. I hope he's * abysmally *.

Probably true. But the media seem to love telling stories about players coming up from nothing, so I'm sure through Tommy's campaigning for him not to get deported, he'll get a mention.

Pretty much, hope he has a short, injury blighted career.
