[Link] Tom Rogic

ING Australian soccer star Tom Rogic will leave tomorrow to link with Scottish giant Celtic.

The Australian understands Celtic have made an offer to Rogic's A-League club Central Coast Mariners and is keen to sign to attacking midfielder.


Celtic is on a winter break in Spain and the plan is for Rogic to join the club there as a "meet and greet".


"It is not a trial," a source close to Rogic said. "They want to see him in training with the rest of the players.


"Celtic is a huge club and for them to want to sign Tom is a huge thing."
Rogic had been linked with a move to English Premier League club Reading last week but the deal broke down after he reportedly had second thoughts.


The 20-year-old is regarded as the hottest property in Australian club soccer after rising to prominence with the Mariners last season.









He made his Socceroos debut late last year, impressing in a friendly before producing a couple of solid displays as Australia qualified for the finals of the East Asian Cup.


Celtic is regarded as one of the biggest clubs in Europe.


The Hoops are leading the Scottish Premier League this season and have qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League where they will play Juventus in the next round.


Celtic will be a massive springboard to Europe for Rogic.

Never heard of him, but I didn't know much about many of our current players before they signed except Forster, Ledley, Samaras, Commons, Stokes, Brown, Mulgrew, Lassad and Zaluska.

SUSPENDED Central Coast Mariners attacking midfielder Tomas Rogic will depart Australia on Thursday to link with Scottish heavyweights Glasgow Celtic at their mid-season training camp in Spain.

The ‘Bhoys’ are currently in Spain preparing for the second half of the Scottish Premier League season as well as their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Italian giants Juventus commencing in February.

Rogic will participate in training as well as sports science and fitness testing with Celtic in Spain, however the Mariners can confirm that no offer has yet been tabled for the recently capped Qantas Socceroo.

Central Coast Mariners General Manager of Football, Lawrie McKinna, said: “This is a great opportunity for Tomas to train with Celtic’s first team squad. Celtic are in their mid-season break and are busy preparing for their Champions League matches against Juventus in February, so Tom will undoubtedly learn a lot from the experience.”

Rogic will re-join his Mariners teammates on Thursday 17 January, two days before he will next be eligible to represent the yellow and navy against Newcastle Jets on Saturday 19 January at Bluetongue Stadium.


I would think we will buy him if we want him because they were in negotations with Reading but failed to agree a deal so they definetly are in a position to sell him.

 

Watched both of the YouTube videos posted. Not sure of him based on that. Look very left footed and doesn't seem very quick. Would depend how well he takes to the pace of the game. Would rather Melikson signed.

 

Cant wait for work tomorrow night with all the reading fans there, it's not often our clubs are in anyway connected so this'll be funny for me

 

From the vids he looks strong as an ox, great first touch, couple of great passes and a couple of cracking goals. Some of the touches to get out of tight spaces were quality.

 

Yeah he looks strong which is great. But his turn of pace wasn't great and if he's a attacking midfielder it would be nice if he was comfortable with both feet (I'm not expecting lubo levels) if he's going to dictate play going forward, especially if he's forced out wide. Of course, I'll give him every chance and back him should he signed. Just not getting a great initial gut feeling here.

Hes played pro football for a year though rememer and hes only 20.

 

Think he looks pretty decent. Love finding out about players i've never heard of before.

 

Regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Australian football. Not sure he would be a first team player at Celtic, but he's only young and it will be a great environment for him to develop. I hope Celtic do sign him.
