Did anybody here actually see the bother?

I was in 5 mins late as there was queues outside but the first thing I saw when I got in the stadium was Dundee fans wrestling with the police and stewards with one steward being pushed down the stairs.

Yes there was bangers set off, yes the old rebel songs where out in the force and yes people were * but I didn't see any bother whatsoever.

Media have decided to jump on this and are making comments on scenes they never even saw

I think John Hartson has gone a bit far with that article. Calling for people to lose their job because they misbehaved at a football match is a ridiculous thing to do in all honesty.

That said, it would appear that some people on here find it much easier to have a go at an ex-Celtic player than criticise * up Celtic fans who behaved like arseholes. I find that rather bemusing.

:celt_2: yip nothin wrong with these songs, they're not sectarian.

Sorry, but we have no pictures or decent eye wittness reports on what happened, just hear say from anti tim backers to fit their own agenda, a lot of celtic fans never saw much wrong from normal away days, this is the press making a mountain out of a moll hill. Its get timmy season.

Thats what i thought in regard the comment about jobless etc.

Yip, no proof, just a load of bollocks and some tims are taking the bait.
Aye, why are we not hearing reports about the Dundee Fans conduct regarding sectarian songs and behaviour?

Dundee fans doesn't sell papers mate.

Can only really go with what I've read on here but this seems to have been built up to be some sort of shame game.
Wasn't there only 4 fans arrested?

Not condoning what other fans may have done; Fighting, bangers, whatever. But there has been more arrests at a match with nothing being said.

It's that big bad Celtic support. They really do bring shame on Scottish football. :bbpd:

The thing is Marky, I think most people are willing to admit that there was some of our travelling supporters in the wrong, we are just aware that it wasn't a massive deal, although the media (John Hartson included) would like to paint a different picture entirely.

Lets have a wee look at our away supports behaviour against Hibs today. :50:

I find it bemusing how someone can be so outraged and write about something they did not witness. I also find it bemusing he can write for a rag such as the sun. I find it bemusing how someone who kicked a fellow pro in the head while on his knees can lecture others on behaviour.

Im not defending the numpties who were at the game but I do object too the over reaction and lies being printed in his excuse of a paper mate.

So you're only allowed to pass comment on what happened if you were actually at the game? Eh.......naw.

Billy McNeill wrote for the Sun. John Hartson isn't the first ex-Celt to do so.

Well done, try and deflect attention away from the disgraceful behaviour on Wednesday night by talking about John Hartson kicking Eyal Berkovic. What Hartson did to Berkovic doesn't change what happened on Wednesday night.

My opinion of the Sun is as low as yours mate. That's one of the reasons I'm annoyed at the people who misbehaved at Dens on Wednesday. They gave the people who want to ruin the reputation of the Celtic support an open goal.

Im not deflecting away from what happened but John Hartson should come down from his high horse. I dont care what former Celts wrote for that * rag he should not be adding fuel to the fire with speculation of what happened in Dundee.

Its why Im so annoyed at Hartson mate, giving that rag ammo against us. We all know what happened and should not happen again but splashing it all over the sun is not needed.

It isn't John Hartson that has given the Sun the ammo though. It's the balloons who couldn't hold their drink on Wednesday night that have given the Sun the ammo.

If those fans had behaved themselves on Wednesday night then there wouldn't have been a story to write in the first place.

John Hartson was not there so his info is second hand.

Battle of Dens Park!!! riots!!! football hooligans not seen since the 70,s etc etc....

Any vidoes? Any pictures? surely in this day and age and the fact it was live on telly someone has evidence of this madness.

70 people ejected all Celtic fans. have the police confirmed this??

Look mate Im not denying there are muppets in our support but like John Hartson I was not there so I cannot say exactly what happened. Depending on who you listen too or believe there are very contradicting take on events.

I've already said that I'd love nothing more than those who bring their gang fights to Celtic games to be chased, and that some are no doubt guilty of being unable to handle their drink.

But let's put this into context - there was 4 arrests, yes 4 arrests out of the whole support. That hardly equates to being a bunch of thuggish IRA supporting louts, does it know? And yet that is the picture that is being painted.

BBJ has put his name to an article based entirely on hearsay. Regardless of how many goals he's scored for Celtic, and whatever else, that is mighty bad craic.

As far as I can tell, most of the problems occurred either outside the ground or in the concourse. So the match being live on TV really wouldn't make any difference in that respect.

Apparently Dundee do have CCTV footage of the concourse area so we'll just have to wait and see what story emerges over the coming days. I agree with you that comments like "worst scenes since the 70's" can sound a bit melodramatic but the fact that both Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon have commented publicly on this would suggest to me that they know what happened wasn't too clever.

We'll just have to sit tight and see how the story unfolds I suppose. Believe me, I'd love for it all to have been blown out of proportion.

huge over reaction as usual , both sets o fans were full o the gabby water and heavy handed stewards / coppers started most of the problems

Renowned for lying about the behaviour of fans, the fans of an English club which Hartson claims to support, which makes his writings for the sun even more pathetic than they already are.

In fact if truth be told any so called Liverpool fan that takes their shilling from the sun is beyond pathetic.
