Rangers were a prod team at one stage. But i think this hampers teams if they want to be so bigoted let them

Bilbao is not bigoted, in that, if you are black, white, asian, muslim, christian, catholic etc etc... as long as you're born in that region you could play for them. They're not discriminating against anyone based on race or religion. It's a bit different to the oldco's policy really.

At least that's how I understand it to be. Might be wrong though, never really looked into it.

They weren't a 'Prod team' they were an anti-Catholic team.

    There is a difference.

You are somewhat correct, they sign players who have direct Basque heritage. A player doesn't have to be born in the Basque country, he has to have at least one Basque parent. Amorebieta, for example, was born in Venezuela to two Basque parents, and as such meets their policy.

The fact that Athletic Club is almost exclusively made up of ethnically homogeneous Basque Catholics has nothing to do with racism or bigotry, it's simply down to the demographics of the Basque country. Mixed race players will always be few and far between at the club, but Jonas Ramalho is a case and point: Athletic don't discriminate on the basis of skin colour.

In life there are legitimate and illegitimate forms of discrimination, and Athletic have never engaged in the latter.

Bilbao do NOT discriminate against player's religion or skin colour so how are they bigoted? Should we do away with national teams then? Is Barcelona bigoted? Most of their players are from a Catalan cantera. Bilbao sign home grown players - it only requires you to be from the Basque country or of recent Basque descent, like the Scottish and Irish national teams require you to be Scottish or Irish or of recent Scottish or Irish descent, respectively. And it certainly hasn't held them back considering they, along with Barça and Real, two of the biggest clubs in the world, are the only three teams never to have been relegated from La Liga. They also played in a European final only last year. They're only behind Real Madrid in supplying players for the Spanish national team. I doubt you can say it hampers them, in fact they thrive.

I'd like Celtic to bring through more local players, doesn't mean I'm a bigot.

Also worth bearing in mind that all but one of the 15 Lions were born within 10 miles of Celtic Park. Didn't hold us back.

In spirit yes, but their team on the park was not strictly protestant only - it was however, a "No Catholics Allowed" club.

Now THAT my friends is the epitome of discrimination.

There are three main races caucasian, mongoloid and negroid (these terms are a bit oudated but are still used.)

Caucasian, widely considered the white race, composes the ethnic populations of all european, north africans, middle easterns and SOUTH ASIANS

It is nothing to do with colour of skin really.

I agree. If Basque county had a national team which can play qualifications, they would have probably changed that policy.
About Zenit, I hope they will lost all important games and that a black player will score against them to decide the winner.

"We're not racists but..." Always an opening line to arouse suspicion.
We're not racists but we hate the idea of black players playing for our club. Makes sense.
