Had a Road Safety day at school a few days back as most of us are now learning or driving. Showed us a few adverts, but this was the one I thought was the worst:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX_w23Iogt8&mode=related&search=

Aparently can't be shown in Scotland incase it offends. Alot of *, it should be shown to ram the message home. If adverts like that don't make you want to slow down then you've got a problem.

The shock factor might work for some but I think we all know people who regardless of adverts will still drink drive and speed. Tougher sentences must back up the advert campaign.
My kids have been in two accidents. One where my mum wrote off the car on Barrhead road swerving to avoid a piece of debris that fell of a vehicle. Luckily they were ok because they were strapped firmly in their car seats. The other incident, the wee man took off his seatbelt to remove his t-shirt while sitting in the front. My missus drove off slowly when the lights went to green but had to brake as the car in front braked. The wee man didnt get his seatbelt back on in time so he was thrown forward and hit the windscreen. He was O.K as it was only at minimal speed, but what a fright you get never mind the cost of a new windscreen. Now they are no longer allowed to sit in the front ever.

    SO REMEMBER
    ALWAYS WEAR SEATBELTS
    COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE

    Gee, those are horrible.

When my dad was young, there was a big crash involving two cars with teen drivers, and their friends in the area I live in. Most of them didn't make it, and the state of the car was horrendous but the families agreed that it be put in the middle of the town for everyone to see what happens. The stats went down for a while after that, really put people off being idiots on the road.

I think those adverts will work because like the real thing, its seeing the little details...
