That Ki statement did you little favours mate :56: .

A clueless assumption that anyone who makes it to the promised land of EPL was a star for us. You're not the first to do it and you won't be the last.

McGeady is nothing like this. We were desperate to cash in on him and got a great price, we weren't bullied and McGeady wasn't 'poached' as people will undoubtedly say Wanyama was.

The 2013 to 2016 EPL TV deal means than even the "lesser" Premier League clubs will have bigger turnovers than Celtic in the Champions League.

It may not be nice to stomach, but is the reality for the coming years. The "EPL bubble will burst soon" line gets trotted out, but that has been used for the last 20 years and I can't see the chain of events which will cause this burst. If anything worldwide interest is continuing to grow even if the product includes Hull vs Norwich on a Tuesday night.

Do you really have nothing better to do with your time MLG? That's Friday, Saturday and Monday night you've spent your time arguing with Celtic fans on here and SI. Pretty sad no?

Well played on shoehorning Pompy's average attendances into the discussion the other night though. :icon_mrgreen:

As im sure you will agree Mcgeady was here for a long time in todays football terms and it was time for him to move.
It was also good deal for celtic.

It's quite easy to stomach, actually. The fact I know my team could obliterate teams that have a far far far superior budget gives me great pride.

It'll burst eventually. Clubs like Manchester United and Everton are crippled with unsustainable debt.

That's always been the case though; again though it's about the bottom line for us. If we have no debt we can afford to say no if we think it's not a stupid offer.

The problem with the Premiership and the lesser teams though are the wages they need to offer; we don't have that problem. If people move ton England, they expect big money. It's why 90% of Wigans turnover went to wages etc. different story that though.

Nobody is watching those games pal, just like hardly anyone is watching Southampton games.

you leech off the amount of people who subscribe to see Celtic, Man U, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid, etc...

Those teams are the reason that people buy Sky's product, especially Celtic where Scotland has more subscribers per head than England, yet get a disproportionate amount of the pot of gold.

You find yourself in a very lucky position, and if I'm being honest, not an enviable one.

I think I would rather our predicament than yours, I quite like living within our means and only spending what we can afford and the journey that comes with that approach.

It feels a lot more satisfying.

He won't be going anywhere until an offer is made that suits both him and Celtic. I guarantee you that it won't be for anything less than £12m and will be to a much bigger club than Southampton.

Even without the bubble bursting, your teams (whilst still very good) aren't as good as they were 5 years ago. The bubble will burst eventually, but at the moment you seem to be in a slow decline.

It will burst when people have to pick between running a household or giving money to sky.
Lets be honest £100 per month to sky is no small fee.
Celtic may not have the riches of the epl but when it all goes * up we will still be here safe and sound.
Our scouts will see to that, you keep buying our 900k players for 12million .
Wanyama can and will be replaced celtic can not.

Southampton's last accounts showed a profit for the opening half of the 2012/13 season and no long term external debt.

Is that not "living within our means"?

Then why whilst the UK and rest of the world was in recession did the EPL sign a deal for its biggest ever TV deal. One that is significantly larger than ever before and the international deal is on a far larger scale than previously?

No long term external debt, high quality modern infrastructure and one of the best academies in the UK means Southampton won't be too troubled either - if this long awaited "bubble burst" ever happens. 20 years in the making and little sign of it even in a recession.

Ki was better than he got credit for but was still behind Wanyama, Kayal, Ledley and Brown at the time. Just unlucky he joined Celtic at a time when we were flush with quality CM's.

Him leaving Celtic had no impact on us. Made a 3/4 million profit in the process.

    Lovely jubbly.

Look man you shouldn't come on here talking about TV deals and how much money your club is going to make. We operate in different markets. We bought Wanyama for 800k. Your team is trying to buy the same player for 12 million. It is all relative. We get a cracking player for cheap while a PL club gets charged premium prices because other clubs know they have the money.

We all know the EPL pays ridiculous money and that is the only reason these smaller teams can pay, lets face it, astronomical prices

There is another example of what i was just saying. Premier league clubs get done over when it comes to transfer and agents fees. It is a bit of a false market in many ways. 35 million for Carroll and the like.
