Touché, I'll agree with you on that one.

How many points did Manchester United win the league by again? More like a one horse race.

This isn't a 2 horse race league system like in Scotland, achieving things in England is tricky due to the depth of the competition (a concept that can't be applied in Scotland).

    - Southampton have been in the top flight of a far more competitive league system than Scotland for 36 of the last 47 years.
    - They have been in 11 FA Cup semi finals and 4 FA Cup finals and 1 League Cup final.

There is a large number of teams in the Championship, League 1 and even League 2 that would comfortably be the 3rd biggest side in Scotland if they moved. Southampton would be one of them.

    - Celtic last season were Champions and averaged 45k.
    - Southampton last season were newly promoted and struggled early on and averaged 31k in a 32k stadium with numerous games sold out.

If Southampton had a bigger capacity they'd be even closer to Celtic's average despite being a bottom half team. If Southampton actually competed in the top half of the Premier League they'd get very close to Celtic's average if the stadium capacity allowed it.

Oh dear oh dear! I genuinely thought you would give us more than that! Maybe I overestimated you when I compared you guys to Villa. Got to love the BPL fans and their delusional idea that they've got, and have always had, some fantastic league.

QPR, Hull, Southampton, Reading, Stoke. All of you are the same.

If any of those clubs died, they'd be forgotten within a year. They are the definition of insignificant.

League One, you averaged 17,000 a home game, that is you playing league one opposition, something you say we play equivalent of and we get a average gate of 45k. So saying that you have a strong fan base is a load of rubbish, what you have is fair weather fans and they won't stick about. A very small dedicated fan base.

There are plenty of big clubs in England with glorious histories its just that southampton have never, and will never, be one of them.

Essentially then, your success has come off of the back of sugar daddy owners and Sky pouring money into a league that can still realistically only be won by three clubs at most... United, Chelsea and City. You can write Liverpool and Arsenal off again for this coming season.

Nobody seems to mention the fact that Man United strolled the league with ease in that season just gone by there, despite the fact City have spent several hundred million trying to build a squad capable of winning trophies.

Celtic averaged 45k in a one horse race... not even a two horse race. We can only beat what's in front of us. It isn't our fault that Rangers cheated their way to several trophies throughout their now broken history and died as a result of that.

On average, 45,000 Celtic fans were showing up every second week to watch games that were uncompetitive and often boring. Southampton had something to fight for in the EPL, hence the reason why 31k fans were showing up every week to watch exciting football matches. There is no comparison between our attendances and Southampton's attendances. Southampton would not have drawn anywhere near 31k if they had to endure what we endured in the SPL last season.

As far as the history goes... it's all very well getting to finals and semi finals, but how many trophies have Southampton actually won in the last 15-20 years? The only thing that counts, at the end of the day, is medals and honours. Nobody remembers second place. Also, as I've noted previously, Sky pour money into your club and the rest of the small EPL clubs relentlessly. Celtic do not enjoy such luxury in Scotland.

Regarding Southampton moving to Scotland. IMO you would eventually end up being roughly on the level of an Aberdeen/Hibs/Hearts/Dundee United. No foreign investment, no TV money, much smaller attendances and less history than some of the aforementioned clubs. You would have to downsize hugely or face bankruptcy.

Are you talking about recently because the EPL was kind of * in the 90's. Really have you ever saw some of the 90's EPL matches when you had no Sky money. Up until Sevco (Rangers) won 9 in a row, our leage was very competitive. Not to mention up until 2005 our league was actually quite decent, even without all of the money Sky give to the EPL.

I don't think you are talking about recently because of this line however:

'Southampton have been in the top flight of a far more competitive league system than Scotland for 36 of the last 47 years. '

What age are you mate? Seriously if you think Scotland and the Scottish league was just some diddy like between 1966-2013. :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

That is a lot of teams you need to do better than in England to win anything. Where as all Celtic haven't needed to win a trophy in most years is do better than Rangers and vice versa. it is little wonder you have so many trophies and the opportunity to play in Europe every season. Hearts, Hibs, the Dundee clubs, Aberdeen have offered little in the way of competition over the years.

Add to that mate that up until 2011, only Man United and Chelsea had a shot of the league.

Seriously embarrassing how much of a stranglehold Man United have over that league. What is it - 13 out 20?

    You're completely missing the point.

    Which teams in league 1?

You do realise that if these BLP, Championship, League 1 sides were to move leagues things wouldn't continue for them as normal?? Surely you see that?

No they wouldn't. For a start the clubs wouldn't get the same amount of money spewed at them as they currently do.

I'd like to see how Southampton would do on Celtic's budget.

In a few years, when you're linked to another clubs player remember and use this in your argument. Not everyday Southampton get mentioned in the same breath as Celtic the champions of Britain (look it up). You should feel privileged.

    What a load of *. :31:

Vice versa? Do you really think Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs would remain diddy teams with a EPL budget? Do you realise that Aberdeen and Edinburgh are bigger places that Southampton?
