    Gary Hooper’s contract talks with Celtic have broken down, leaving the door open for Liverpool to sign the striker.
    The Reds have only one recognisable striker fit, after Fabio Borini’s foot injury whilst on international duty with Italy, and believe the 24-year-old could solve their striker problems.
    Hooper, who joined the Bhoys from Scunthorpe in 2010, has been in fine form for Neil Lennon’s men, with many believing his goalscoring exploits in the Champions League should have lead to an England call-up.
    But contract talks with the Celtic Park side have stalled, and Liverpool are now eyeing a January transfer move for the former Southend United star.
    talkSPORT understands Hooper is upset that numerous promises have been broken by the club regarding the new contract

    Same as the vast majority of football players with an agent barking in your ear that you are losing out on millions, you'd perhaps pick.......the millions.

    Everyone likes to think they wouldn't, and in fact a good number would not.

    A sizeable majority would, however, especially when there are no specific allegiances to the club in question.

    Those who stay are rewarded with idolisation for their loyalty. Those who depart often referred to (at every Club) as a Judas by some.

    It's the circle of a footballer's life, to be honest with you.

    To be honest i was waiting on these types of stories breaking , just when celtic are on the up playing well and getting good results on the continent something pokes up hooper is obviously eager to sign a deal that will make him a millonaire within the next couple of years at the age of 24 it makes sense id imagine celtic board wont offeer him nothing greater than 28k a week , liverpool could offer an easy 40k without a single thought . What is left on hoopers contract ? .does anyone know?
