What ever he sells for we'll prob buy him back again for 1/3 of the price when he doesnt make it in the SPL

He has alot of potential, in terms of improving his passing and just positionally and tactically improving, a long way to go but if he does keep on progressing he will become a top defensive mid.

Depends how long is left on his contract when interest comes in.

I personally can't see why he can't go for the highest ever SPL transfer fee.

At least 10 Million, everyone knows he is destined for the big time, but Celtic must also add a profit if he is then re sold again cause i think big vic could well be the next yaya toure :50:

At this moment who really knows? I think the figures you are all banding around are what you want to see brought in for him, but not really his value.

I am a massive fan of big Vic, I have never said a bad word about him, I think he MIGHT go on to be the next big African player. But lets have a bit of a reality check here please.

McGeady was excellent in the SPL and Europe as well as with Ireland for quite a few years before just fetching 9 million pounds. Since then the standard of our league has dropped a fair bit as well as our European credentials. Yes we are doing very well at the moment etc etc, but the facts of the past 4 years remain the same.

Taken into account Kenya, don't really play at a high standard and the majority of Vics caps are against relatively weak opposition.

My main point is this, as Celtic fans we really do see through green tinted glasses! But in reality Mr Wanyama has done very little to justify such a large price tag some of you are quoting.

I think if he was sold today, with the punt on the speculation of his potential. Celtic would accept anything over 8 Million.

I think buying club buying Wanyama would not pay a large cash amount upfront, I think it would be potential based rather.

When he does decide to move on ... because it's the SPL, Scottish football, whatever, whatever ... you just *know* several clubs will (try and) low-ball Celtic. Especially from the EPL.

    That really bothers me.

It guts me, too. Clubs like Swansea City (really?!) taking advantage of our limited financial scope.

    Sad.

Wanyama is a wonderful talent. If he was currently in the EPL, he'd already be worth around, or at, an 8-figure sum.

What the * are you talking about? Swansea gave us a great price for a bit-part player.

Exactly 6 million probably with extras in the deal for someone who would struggle to get 10 appearances a season for us is great business and just shows that clubs in England are willing to over spend even for spl players

I've only seen him once for them and he was the best player on the park but on paper they certainly over paid I'm sure he was in the last season of his contract and he would have been struggling to get on the bench for us

all the more reason i hope given his age and potential we were smart enough to add a sell on clause as he could go for more now especially being the EPL

He was NOT a "bit-part player". Paddy McCourt is, what I'd call a "bit-part player".

He's a fantastic young talent with loads of potential, and who's already won personal honours for his "bit-part player" performances. There's a reason why he's competing in the EPL, and doing well, I might add.

I don't know why he didn't always crack the Starting IX on game-day, but he definitely scored his share of meaningful goals the short time he was at Celtic.

I, personally, think Celtic was low-balled ... and I think it *will* happen again with the likes of Wanyama, Hooper, etc. Both from teams in the EPL, and elsewhere in Europe as our team becomes better, attracting greater attention.

I will always stand by that.

Ki was a bit part player.

Who would he be a starter infront of:

    Kayal, Ledley, Wanyama, Brown?

McCourt is an edge of the squad, last hope player.

Answer to the question though, whatever Peter Lawell and Lenny deem is acceptable.

How long has Wanyama got left on his contract? If he has 3 years left we can name our price for him, especially if Man U or Man C are showing interest. Depending on what's left on his contract we can demand at least 15 million for him

I rate him above Ki, but I can't see him making higher money.

Remember that Ki came with an international reputation (Asian player of the year) and also with a fair bit of marketing kudos.

I'd think we'll be getting offers in the region of £5million. He's worth that to us all day long, but his head will be turned as soon as EPL clubs start their serious sniffing and our hand will be forced.

That right there is bang on, yes we sold him for 6 million but because of said reasons I hope we got some percentage of a sell on clause as he could move on from Swansea for even more money still.

which is why unfortunately when the day comes that teams come bidding for big Vic, unless we have purposely signed him up to a long term contract to try and milk as much as we can on his asking price especially if it is going to be teams like the Manchester two would we ever get anything over £6 million and over.

Wanyama comes with his own marketing kudos he is fast becoming one of the rising stars of African football and got his first cap for Kenya at the age of 15
