I saw an interview that I got the link of on here about a year or 2 ago. It was just basically Alex Ferguson saying that Jock Stein is the best manager he's ever seen and that Jock showed him the ropes so to speak. He also went on to say that Henrik Larsson was brilliant for United and that he made Wayne Rooney a better player or something along those sort of lines. I'd love if any of you have that interview. :icon_mrgreen:

Also, If this is in the wrong section sorry and feel free to move it mods.

In typical Man U style Ferguson was a glory hunter, his dad used to take him to Celtic games until he started school and found out that Rangers the team along the road from him were the best team, so he bacame a Rangers fan :56:

How do you know Fergie used to go to Celtic games?

    Has he admitted this?

Aye, mind seeing it once on an Interview on either Celtic or Rangers TV.

His dad used to take him and his brother to Celtic games every week, he ran a supporters bus, it wasnt until he was 7/8 that he first went to Ibrox to a Rangers game I think him and his brother were taken by their neighbours who were Rangers fans from then on they always went to the Rangers games.

He probably only swapped sides because Rangers were the better team and most people at his school probably supported them. Infact I think he said the first time he went to a Rangers game was 1949.... coincidently Rangers won the Treble that year.

Outstanding football manager, I am proud that he is Scottish.

Will go down in history with the very, very best.

    Absolutely.
Lets not forget, he rejected the Rangers managers job in 84 was it?Even although he went along to be interviewed....so he was obviously interested, but didnt take it.
Pretty sure it would have had something to do with their signing policy at the time...as it was another 2 years before Souness arrived and started signing Catholics!

Was there not a bit of fallout when he left as a player....because he had a Catholic wife?

No too sure about that. His mother was a catholic she used to go to St Anthonys chapel in Govan with my Gran.

I can't recall the exact circumstances but there was definitely an incident of some kind, brought about because she was a catholic.

He did. Think it was on sky sports or something. It had Rooney and Giggs and all them praising him also. Im sure he said he wanted to sign years before he did but was told he was wasting his time and it was a big regret of his that he didnt sign him in his prime. Rooney also spoke glowingly, he loved him.

Hate Man Utd but love Ferguson. Can be a * at times but he is an outstanding ambassador for football. He also supports tons of charities.

Theres a Larsson programme on MUTV, it comes on fairly often, might be that your talking about. Has interviews with Ferguson, Giggs, Rooney, his old Helsingborgs manager etc talking about him.

Ferguson says something in it about his son being delighted when he signed as Larsson was his favourite player and he put a few £ on him to score the first goal on his debut or something and won.
