Think sometimes we expect to much of him to be a main attacking threat and defender with not much help on the left.

He was just tasked to defend tonight and he done it very well, he's a good defender when he's just defending.

glad he played well tonight, he was due it, and maybe too much is asked of him going forward, as tonight he never got forward much if at all, and he was superb in defence all night.

    A thousand times this.

He gets grief for bad defending when his remit is to be on the oppositions goal line.

Tonight showed how he can operate when he is trusted to stay back a little and defend first and foremost.

He got his completely skint in the first minute, then he didn't lose a tackle after that. One on one with their winger he took the ball off him with ease every single time.

    Class performance from Izzy :50:

Aye, a lot of the time we expect him to be at both touchlines.

Maybe that's the case, if it is, then in Europe I hope he's asked to do that first and foremost everytime..

I was delighted with him today..

That yellow he picked up could be costly though. One more and he gets banned for a game.

Best he's played in a long time.

Defended very well in the first half.

If you expect your LB to play as a LW you have to * protect him.

It's no coincidence that Izzy's POTY performances came when Ledley and Mulgrew were protecting him.

I thought he was excellent tonight, except for a couple of mishits but that's standard for him.

Full back 4 played well actually. I keep saying how good we are defensively, as well as the excellent shield of Brown and Bitton. We have nothing to worry about in the back 7.

So we just need to find the middle ground for Izzy between his defensive and attacking play, he was solid last night could tell he was up for it, think Ronny's message got across to him.

I have never doubted Izzy's defensive capability. I think that other teams see the full back areas as a potential zone to exploit on the break as we play such a pressing game. It's all about finding the right balance based upon the strengths of the opposition. Last night we got that balance right.
