I hope he gets a chance again, but I do get the feeling Lennon sees him as an SPL striker, will Stokes be happy to sit out BIG games all the time I'm not sure.

Decent player but he needs a good slap from time to time. His attitude can suck when he's not in the mood, and he'll play the difficult shot when a team mate has an open goal.

Yea my point is how many times did we see Stokes play well then get dropped while hopper could play poor and still not be dropped this makes me think he dosent like something about him ie workrate, effort, attitude

But how often does he fire on all cylinders?

Roy Keane was right about him.He just doesn't have the mental strenght to be a top player, although he certainly has the raw ability to be one

Hope he dose, the man basically won the league for us last year with they 2 goals at Kilmarnock, don't see why lenny dose not have any faith in Stokes in the big games hes a all round good striker just as good as Hooper so a don't see why not, but with these 2 new faces its hard to say but a hope he dose not get shunted to the side like the rest, and if the new guys just walk straight into the team a see some angry people emerging they need to earn there spot in the starting XI

    No, basically.

He wasn't guaranteed a game as it was, and now we've brought in 2 new strikers, plus the emergence of Watt, PLUS any more academy graduates who come through and are given playing time this season.

I thought he would move on this summer just gone, Lennon obviously kept him because we were heavily short upfront but now we've got replacements I can definitely see him being sold next summer.

I think it will be dependant on Watt's season, but you're probably right.

Stokes will get his chance its wether or not he takes it , if his attitude and training is bang on then whats the problem. The guy scores goals and it would be madness to let a 20 goals a year guy leave when we dont have replacements , miku is on loan and watt still needs time

i rate him up with hooper,
I think stokes is our smaller game number 1. without him last season we would of lost very important games like killie.

He was absolutely dreadful in every game after the 0-5 Hibs game last season.

Stokes will depart either in January or next summer. Guaranteed. He'll be lucky if he manages to score another Celtic goal before then, injury issues or otherwise. I really hope Miku and Lassad turn out to be shrewd signings.

As some others have said it all depends on how the new bhoys do. He is still ahead of Watt for me anyway. Watt has great potential and has shown that but I hope he does not get ahead of himself.

Also Miku is still not completely a celtic player so its not definetely the end for stokesy. If Miku has a fantastic season and impresses in europe then chances are we wont be able to afford to take him on a permenent basis.

We have an agreed price in place for Miku so the only stumbling block can be wages. It might be naive but from first impression I don't think he would be so greedy as to jeopardize a permanent deal.

I think the new signings are ahead of Stokes now and i guess it depends on how well they do until his return. Watt may be the one who'll lose the most in the short term from these signings, but time is on his side and we can't just push him in the deep end anyway.

Also I don't get all this Hooper off form talk, he's working hard as usual, very unlucky against Hibs, 2 goals in Europe, he'll get his goals soon enough.

I don't know for how long he's out for, but he had surgery on Monday in London, but that supposedly isn't going to keep him out for too long, whatever that means.

At his best he is still our best striker so, yes, he will find his way in and around the squad when he is fully fit.

Lassad and Miku are unknown quantities and although Hooper is strong, has decent link up and is an excellent finisher he doesn't have the vision or the gallus streak that Stokes does.

Stokes isn't even in Hooper's league.

Hoops could easily play in the Premiership and for England, whereas Stokes will never play at a bigger or better club than Celtic.

That'll be why they have comparable goalscoring records yet Stokes creates a vast amount more goals. :52:
