Was just thinking, which is never a good thing, considering the amount of money that was brought in by the Ki transfer 6.5 mill and CL football 17.1 mill minium according to stv website and other nominal fees for dead wood, so 23.6+ mill. Are people happy with the amount spent on transfers. Forster cost about 2 mill, Ambrose cost in the region of 1.5mill, the loan deals I would roughly estimate at 2 mill maybe a bit more and Noiuoiu was a free. Now I know wages have to be taken in to consideration but with all the players that where shifted out it kind of balances. So are people happy with how we spent or not happy. I myself feel that we spent a minium because are accounts are going to be bad and we needed to bank the bulk of it.

    Delighted.

I don't judge our transfer successes on the amount of money spent on them, I judge them on the type of players they are and if they will be a success on the Football Pitch.

The example of Henrik Larsson is often brought up; £650k for him alone. Well, if we had £100m to spend and we only bought a Henrik Larsson for £650k I'd still be * delighted.

we don't get handed a cheque for £20 million the second we're in the CL. People constantly overlook this, cash flow must be taken into account and given we don't get most of that money until the end of the season it would be silly to spend vast amounts this window. Particularly with our squad only needing tinkered with.

If we qualify for the Champions League next season though, that will be very interesting.

The Ki money roughly negates the projected loss of revenue without the huns (* rest their souls).

Our accounts will be healthy this season as they regularly are with Champions League participation. Which is no bad thing in the current climate.

I know it shouldn't have but Green's comments that Sevco 5088 will have stronger accounts than ours come the end of the season * me off. For that reason I was secretly happy we didn't blow a fortune chasing something we are not going to achieve. That's what killed the huns (* rest their souls).

I do not feel we need to spend X amount of money just because we have it. I would prefer we blood our youth in the SPL this season. As for Europe 1 or 2 marquee signings would not guarantee success and there is no reason to believe that our young team will not improve with more European experience.

Does my head in when people say we should bring in a defender for 2 or 3m and a striker for 3 or 4m (just an example), like it's all in the fee. Give me a bargain any day of the week.

And yes, I think our financial situtation is such, that I'm not surprised a lot of the CL and Ki money is going towards balancing the books, which is fine by me. Need to live within our means, we've been toeing a fine line in the past years with no CL money and still financing investments into the team.

I'll wait and see what the club's finances look like before passing any judgement on what we've spent.

I'm delighted with the amount of money we've spent.

I think we've brought in some quality players, in the positions we needed them.

The fact that we've got them without shelling out a huge amount is superb. :50:

I am not really that bothered how much we spent if truth be known , for me its about the quality of the player thats brought in ..I think we have got the right players to strengthen the right areas ....We will walk the spl with the squad we have now ....It will all be about motivation at league level , CL will take care of itself ....

Value for money > amount of money spent.

Domestically we have nothing to worry about.

For the next couple of seasons, we just have to have a squad strong enough to qualify for the Champions League. Getting to the group stage and getting the money which that entails is very important.

The last 16 is probably our ceiling. With a bit of luck, our current squad may be able to achieve that.

If the players are good then I couldn't give a * how much money has been spent.

When the accounts are released (expect them any time,) Paul67 at CQN is bang on - they will make for grim reading. Our transfer dealings this Summer have actually exceeded my expectations, most notably in our ability to ship out the vast majority of pish, which was delightful.

Live within our means. That's what we have to do....if that means not spunking a fortune we don't have, then so be it. I can live with that, CL fitba and consecutive SPL Championships. Easily.

Chose the last option, not entirely happy with the dealings although time will tell if i am wrong.

Though i do appreciate that last years accounts could be one of our worst in recent memory. The debt at the last set of account was at 7M it will have risen probably to around 10M. Therefore money gained from releasing players and the CL will be needed to offset some of this debt.

As Devlin said if we were to qualify for next seasons champions league, using the money left over from this campaign coupled with the possibility of next years windfall, we should then be in a comfortable position to spend a little bigger strengthening areas of the team that require it.

It seems this years good account will have to offset last years bad accounts. So while i am not entirely happy with this summers spending, i understand it.

Apart from anything else, none of us really have the slightest idea how much the club has spent.

Most of the money will go on wages and sign-on fees, neither of which are made public.

Nor do we know how much the loan fee was for Miku - possibly substantial - nor the loan fee for Kamenar, etc etc.

So the whole business of "totting up" how much we've shelled out, and comparing it to our income (ignoring, as always, the tens of millions a year it costs to run a club this size) is next to meaningless.

If we have indeed spent very little to get the players we've brought in, then that's excellent - the ideal situation. If we've spent more than is being made public, then that's less good, but not the end of the world.

I'm very happy. Think the club has made some very good deals at a decent price. Prices don't mean quality. Too many players are going for ludicrous prices but are utter *.
All in all I'm happy and for me we shouldnt be looking to spend millions since we've spent a fair bit on the academy. Time for them to step up

There is no way Ambrose cost £1.5million.

Ambrose was in the last year of his contract and played for a mid-table Israeli Club. People need to use their heads and not listen to paper speculation :eek1:

Like Devlin said, money spend means heehaw. Id take a Wanyama, Matthews, Mulgrew and Ledley every season.

Its all about if the players add quality to the squad, not the amount spent on them:50:
