suppose at the end of the day HH there not used to type of abuse thats dished out in the GM forum plus there is a big generation gap. If it comes down to people leaving the site then there's something wrong so if anyone has any beef with other members sort it out through PM if you feel thats going nowere PM an admin and give them the details.

The rules of the forum need to be reinforced and that's not directed at anyone in particular but on the site as a whole. Any * thats been mentioned in the past few weeks has to be forgotten about. Were trying to start with a clean slate if don't feel you can do that then ignore people cos there's to many people using the site now and personality clashes can't be avoided.

    PEACE OUT.

Good idea Mark. Been on a few sites where every thread is hijacked and degenerates into slanging matches. Keep personal grudges for PM's. not on boards.

  12. Good idea, Mark.

How about the Barney thread is used for this, though?

any personal digs go on throuh PM or over MSN. We don't want it leaked out onto the boards, and if we find that a member has been posting PM's or MSN Messages on the board, serious action will be taken.

Dont agree with that CM, not that I would do it, (although possibly in the GMF if I was outraged enough)

A hard lesson for everyone to learn about the internet is that once youve posted your msn, pm or post, email or chat message.......Thats it! Its out in the open.

The golden rule is...If you dont want someone else to know about it, dont write it unless you can trust 100% the recipient and evn then you are leaving yourself open to double-crossing, betrayal, security issues, mistakes ( ever textd the wrong name on your phone?lol)

Yes, its out in the open, but it shows other members what happens to the people who post such things on the forum. If we don't do anything about it then what stops it from happening time and time again?

Aye, I agree, that there should be a certain amount of voluntary discipline from ALL members including myself. However there is really no point someone going off in a huff because they cant take their own medicine. I could have launched a broadside at that new member, irvy7, but I didnt. I get enough stick from people who disagree with my views on certain celtic matters, and I give as good or more than I get in return.

So, I think from here on in, its up to each and every member to instil a voluntary code of conduct. I for one will not 'go hunting' when I am pished as it only bares your soul.

What you and Mark should be aiming for is a self-policed forum rather than a straight-jacket forum.

I dont think for a second that you are at the moment the latter but statement like...

"IF blah blah then YOU are * blah blah" or words to that effect.

I say leave it be, let the odd fight break out and let it run its natural course, and the site will do just fine, imho. Nothing worse than having to put up with some arses sarcasm or stupidity7 and being scared to level them.

Agree with you there but the line has to be drawn somewhere, but where that line is, we are still to decide. Say for example that a member has an argument over PM, that stays through PM, and if that member decides to post the PM's on the forum, action will have to be taken against that member.

I don't know if I should be commenting as I am just here, but can't we live and let live? Every forum has their arguments.
But as I say I haven't been here so maybe I don't know whats happened to make you take these measures.

In an ideal world the forum could run itself and everyone could take a bit of stick on the chin and get on with it, but thats not whats happening for so many reasons.

I hope what your saying HH could kick into effect cos personally i don't wanna be editing posts, banning people or thrown the rule book at some poor * etc etc.

But i think CM is right we need to go back to basics for the moment pull things in tight and then let the reigns off again.

The PM thing is probably a non-event anyway, I dont think you will see any of that. Whats the difference between someone quoting verbatum a pm, or summarizing it in their own words?

I would also reserve the right to post a pm that I thought was so bad that I needed to do so in the interests of the greater good or site security for instance.

But as I say the pm thing is probably a non event.

I think in the whole the site is a good site that has mad moments, but hey, wouldnty It be * boring, if everyone went around kissing *?
