Theirs a 6 minute video of his performance last night on youtube,
Going by that I thought he looked very tidy on the ball and can can pick out a pass looked like he done a fair bit of tracking back also , like has been said though his natural position is CB
hopefully the big man can be the missing piece of our defensive jigsaw.

To be fair, he plays the DM position for Nigeria and has been played at right back often for Ashdod, so I wouldn't say he was out of position.

All I am saying is that based on what I've seen (one full game with him in midfield) I wouldn't automatically be dropping players like Ledley, Wanyama or Kayal.

I've never seen him play CB so I'll reserve judgement until I have. I would also not be putting him straight into defence for a big game (i.e. Moscow) ahead of a defence that (regardless of how shakey we've been in the league) have only conceeded one goal in 5 European games based on one game where he played midfield.

Just watched it, he does really look like Toure there. Seemed to just sit behind everyone and conduct the play, wonder how he'll do at centre-back as he wasnt tested much defensively there but atleast we know hes a decent midfielder(or better).

Two negatives from that vid :D

Was slow chasing a ball that broke but recovered very well.
We broke and he kept it tOO long despite two obvious passes ahead of him. Ended up turning back and squaring it.

    *!

    Joke!

Great debut albeit against RR, no disrespect intended. Hopefully his defensive game is better.

With a passing display like that he can forget playing at centre half. He looks like the type of player we have been screaming out for IMO. Someone who is comfy collecting the ball from the centre halfs and can pick a pass. We dont really have anyone that can play the killer pass. Wanyama and Brown can be very careless in possession at times. He looks like he has plenty running power also. I really hope his debut is a sign of things to come.

in that video he reminds me of a sort of a refined Vic. Less brute strength and athleticism but balanced put by better technical ability.

if he plays like that consistently i'd have him playing just in front of the back four instead of centre half

I watched it on my iPhone.

Another positive of that video is that I don't have to make one:50:.

Watching that video... Jesus he looks composed as anything, for such a big man he drops the the shoulder extremely well. Looking forward to see him against better opposition at Centre Back as well. His best position supposadly is centre half, I'll be * impressed if he's better than that.

Even if it's just against St Johnstone from the parts I caught of the game live he was controlling the game for us.

He's a Wanyama but apparently he's better in defence, like Wanyama is better in midfield.

    If you get me? :icon_mrgreen:
