His performance against Russia in Moscow was the greatest display by an Irish international in the history of the Irish Nation Football team. He wears his heart on his sleeve and gives his all. He has a good bit of pace about him so his legs shouldn't go until he's about 36. If we gave him a 3/4 year deal he'd become a back-up player after 2 years but he'd still be working wonders on the training field.. blooding young talent like Marcus Fraser and Lewis Toshney.

    Let a bhoy dream :54:

Get him and Boly and - along with Rogne, Mulgrew, Fraser and Toshney - that's us set up at CB for the next few years, imo.

Highly unlikely we'll get both of them, though.

Talk about hyperbole. Aren't you 16? How long have you been watching Ireland? Paul McGrath vs. Italy absolutely dwarfs Dunne's performance, just as McGrath dwarfs Dunne in every way.

How is that? Mandzukic and jelavic bullied and tore them apart. He stood off balloteli for his goal against use as well. So tell me why I'm lying?

Defo take him the man is a hero, Strong in the tackle and in the air, Brave and for his size the man has pace. Would * in my pants if he came not gonna lie. McGrath even said it was as good as his performance against Italy..

I've heard about McGrath's performance and he himself has said that Dunne's performance was better. I'm not arguing that McGrath was a better player but in terms of those single performances, Dunne's was something special. Even if McGrath's was better (I haven't seen it) to say it dwarves Dunne's is ludicrous.

A couple of years ago this would have been an excellent signing, even now though he would still be great, would stroll the SPL and would without a doubt help our defence improve in time for the champs league. Would definitely take him for a couple of years anyway as long as his wage demands weren't too much.

I've seen both performances. Dunne's performance in Moscow was on a par with McGrath's legendary performance in New York. McGrath himself testified to that. We should sign Dunne if a deal is feasible and possible.

Maybe a few years ago but not now, not worth the money we would have to put out for the deal

McGrath said it hours after the performance, he was buzzing. Not to mention he's a very down to earth, modest guy. Dunne's performance was brave but there's no chance it was anywhere near McGrath's. Ireland lined up the bodies in the penalty box against Russia pretty much. Against Italy Ireland actually tried to play football and McGrath showed class and dominance, not just fight and determination.

If we played, say O'Shea at CB instead of Dunne for that game we would have lost about 4-0. That ain't even an exaggeration or a dig at O'Shea.

That was oshea who stood off balotelli, not Richard dunne. Dunne wasn't fully it at the euros, he hadn't played for weeks before it. He'd be better than any of our current centre halves. Depends on how much he'd cost though as he is getting on a bit. As for comparing dunne and mcgraths performances. Mcgraths was against the world champions at the time in a world cup, and he was marking one of the best strikers in the world at the time, Baggio.

    He's still with Villa :97:
    He's not done. You're assuming he's done because he's nearly 33.
