3 things really 1 would he be able to live up here and get on with life, 2 would he like it in the winter traveling up and down to games , 3 and could we trust the * on the park with out amassing loads of red cards. there are plenty up here that would have a go at him. so i say he wouldent cope with it.

Wasn't he on 70 grand a week with Newcastle? No chance we will be able to afford his wages anyway.

I can barely put in to words how much it would disappoint me to see Joey Barton wearing the Hoops. Barton is a ned who is cut from the same cloth as El-Hadji Diouf.

    No. No. No. :thumbsdow

No thanks him and diouf should do the right thing and retire from football as both are total thugs.

Would only be a matter of time before he was on the front pages for something....and the back pages also for something negative. He was given pats on the back for pleading with his half brother to come forward after he was wanted for murder.......but on another night with a different person, he could have been a murderer himself.Didnt he go to jail for kicking the * out of someone until he was unconscious?
    Nothing but trouble.(decent player obviously)

Could never trust him to be an ambassador for the club and although he is a talented player too much of a loose cannon to take such a risk on.

Would be quite interesting if we signed him and then got paired against rangers in a cup, Barton v Black!

he's been a * of a player in past but he is a really good footballer, I think Neil would get the best out of him.

I would be absolutely disgusted if we signed this guy. The guy seems to be a total psycho, not right in the head. Am convinced he is a real psychopath from the stuff he has done and would have probably been a jailbird if it wasnt for football. Anyone with a normal brain would be able to hold it together and enjoy his privalleged life.

    I'm not picky.
    Totally agree.

    I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot long * stick.

I'll admit that he is a decent player, BUT he is volatile & a loose cannon at best. We shouldn't even entertain getting a player like this.

Would we really want a player in the team that does this to people? And this is was a team mate of Barton's while at Man City.

And before anyone says "what about the Hartson/Berkovic incident", well Hartson doesn't have a history of being a thug and getting into constant trouble. Barton does.

A site summarises the guy (and if you read the details of each incident is even more clear how evil he is):

This is a man who poked a cigar in a team-mates’ eye; who cowardly and viciously assaulted another team mate – Ousmane Dabo – in front of fellow players; who punched Blackburn’s Morten Gamst Pedersen with a blow of lethal satisfaction; who served a prison sentence for a horrendous and callous street brawl; and who has been kicked out of each of his former clubs for being a reckless liabaility

If we were to get barton, the press would be at him constantly. And the refs would give more against him because of who he is. I'd take him. I'd say he is more like Bellamy than Diouf. Diouf is an utter scum bag and poo at football whereas barton is a player but is a bit of a psycho like bellamy.
