My mate that rang me this morning said its a done deal, applying for work permit first before confirming.

Loan with option to buy, price around 3 million Euros.

The chap that posted it on twitter is usually very reliable for Japanese sports news. There should be some more solid news about it today in the japanese media.

Im Very happy with this kind of deal if its true, no sense in Celtic taking a loan of player without an option to buy as the vultures would circle if he does well.

Btw his 3 goals at the Olympics were good :50: Also UH what about this other guy from Japan im hearing we were sniffing around Kensuke Nagai ? Worth a look ? also seen him in the Olympics, not too shabby either.

Nagai - Does not want to move to the Scottish League. Would prefer a more technical league.

Otsu - My missus is Japanese speaking, so she found this bit of news yesterday, which is known as quite reliable.

    http://www.sponichi.co.jp/soccer/news/2012/08/24/kiji/K20120824003962740.html

That says very advanced negotiations, option to buy after loan.

Important to note, that in Japanese sports they do not do rumors. Only facts, unlike in western media they do not really have "red tops" more people read skuddy magazines on their commute than bullshit sports stories.

So I tend to trust anything I see mentioned by the Japanese Media.

We lost a fair bit of support when we signed Ki, and even more so when his Monkey gestures offended a whole nation.

Japan support is diluted now across many clubs compared to when we signed Naka. Now they have Nagamoto, Honda, Kagawa, Myatchi and a few other promising players.

However, Nakamura after Nakata will always be the biggest Japanese football player they have had, they still love him and it is a clever move for Lawwell to go after someone else they hold in HIGH regard. Otsu.

Not to mention, he is a very explosive and tricky player.

I would be very excited if we signed him, so much so I might go bust one off in the office toilets thinking about it.

I like the idea pistol pete has, straight back in the market for an asian player after Ki leaves to boost popularity in that country, great thinking all round.

I Bet there are quite a few un earthed gems in japan to find, but id also imagine it would be needle in a haystack job for a manager in this country to go find them without the essential knowledge from people actualy in the game over there.

I think it just proves to people the amount of money that is generated by these Koreans and Jappos. Which everyone seems to doubt on here. It must be worthwhile for him to jump straight back into the market and replace an Asian player, with an Asian player especially when we really need a target man and centre back. It really does show how much it is worth to Celtic.

Japanese players have always been tricky and generally skillful. but now they have went into boosting their physique as well as their speed. They use a lot of sports science of there, and I actually remember an interview with Naka in which he thanked science for his free kick's

It is a good market with tonnes of good players and the league is well supported and far more competitive now then ever. I think over the next 10 years we will see a lot more Japanese players. As can also be said for the Koreans.

Starting to like these loan to buy deals, if hes any good - we get him on the cheap. If he's pants - then there is no obligation to buy :icon_mrgreen:

Looks a great target. Only going by the clip posted. Shows enough in that for me. Hopefully all goes through. Without being greedy hope we then try to get a striker in of same quality and a defender.

McGeouch will get his chance. We can't just dismiss every potential target because we have a young player who can play in that position. Would we turn down Ibrahimovic because we have Tony Watt to play up front? If this lad's better than McGeouch, I have no problem with him getting into the team ahead of him. If McGeouch is better then surely Lenny will start him ahead of Yuki.

I've been watching some YouTube videos of this lad this morning and I'm getting quite excited.

That's probably one of the most stupidest thing I've read on this forum.

Alison Robbie ‏@AlisonRobbie #Celtic Neil Lennon says no loan deal done for Yuki Otsu. Says he's a player he likes, but doubts anything will happen this window

    What window then?!

    Keith Downie ‏@STVkeith
Neil Lennon is keeping tabs on Japanese duo Maya Yoshida and Yuki Otsu. He doesn't expect any new signings til next week, though.
