Bit of a long shot, Im in Leicestershire for a month, cant get any cheap rail tickets as I normally get from Rugby (bank holiday week in Eng) and costs over a ton for me to drive up and back on my own so really looking to see if anyone in the midlands, ideally Leic/Northants (hopefully a few from Corby are going) but anywhere even Birmingham/Nottingham is fine for me and ro meet a pick up.

Before anyone suggest supporters buses, I have contacted a few to no avail (probably as its midweek) and dont really like buses anyhow.

Not a problem if its an overnight, or even up on the Monday or Tuesday as Ive somewhere to stop, in fact Im free all next week so whether Im up there or here doesnt matter.

Petrol money, a share of the drive and copious amounts of Red Bull and patter will be your reward for helping out :50:

Many thanks, I know it was a bit of a long shot, no replies so far, with the high train fares next week due to it being a Bank Holiday week in England and the price of petrol its going to cost me well over a ton either way just in transport, had no joy on supporters buses either, might just have to get the old finger out and hitch :84:

Just checked Naitonal Express website for you mate, bus from Leicester to Glasgow departing 11:15am on the Tuesday and returning at 08:15 on the Thursday is £58.10

Good deal if you ask me, only thing is the journey time is quite long, 8 hours 40 mins each way! (there must be changes / stops) but if its costs you want to keep down then that would do the trick.

Couldn't find any cheap flights or trains though.

Many thanks for that appreciate you taking the time, not keen on buses particulatly almost 9 hours.

Next week is a real exception, normally I can get a train from Rugby direct at 6.45am 40 pounds max and up at Central at 10.40, seems to be totally * up prices due to the bank holiday, as per another thread, many fans down south can do stuff on the cheap by booking in advance (Ive had £1 tickets by train from Birm-Glas via Megatrains) many many a time, problem is for league games you can in somew cases plan 10 months in advance, this game only conf the other week and just happens to be on a bad week train fare wise and clearly no opportunity to book way in advance and get the giveaway stuff.

The day before Helsinki I went up 1st class on Virgin from Rugby, less than 30 notes, the usual breakfast, free tea/coffee/swallie wifi and all that bunged in, you win some you lose some I suppose :56:

Did you try looking for any supporters clubs nearby who may be happy to give a bhoy a lift on their bus??
    Might be worth a shot?

Try putting a request in on the gum tree website. Not sure but you could also try a cheeky ad on ebay. Might get lucky and find some nymph willing to share. :icon_mrgreen:

Also contact the local CSC's and say if their bus is full a lift etc is available. Good luck getting up here no matter what.

Yeah tried all that guys, was surprised a bus from Corby or Coventry was not going up.

On another topic my pal went into the ticket office today to buy tickets for next week, he could practically still buy whole blocks, the girl said the slow sales "were very concerning" I looked on the ticketing site and it appears he is right.

Looks for some reason despite the importance of it not many people are going from anywhere.............odd

Try the Neil Lennon csc, they are based at the ukranian club near the church on livingstone street in leicester or the Leicester CSC which is based at the Royal Standard on Charles street. Good guys in both. If they aren't doing it im sure the coventry lot would

Rugby is to dear that day travel down the track to Coventry. I'm from Coventry this is my route next week -
    Coventry(6.30am) to Preston(8.51am) - £14.50 then Preston(9.41am) to Glasgow(12.01pm) - £9.50 = £24.00 all on virgin trains.
Coming back on Thursday is a similar journey -
    Glasgow(9.23am) - Preston(11.56am) - £12.50
    Preston(13.17pm) - Coventry(15.30) - 17.00 = £29.50
    Total cost is £53.50.
There are lots more and cheaper combinations if you are ok for time and not in a hurry to get back. It is always worth checking the price of changing in Preston also as always seems cheaper.

Many thanks pal....I take it the Preston-Central leg is via Megatrains?

They do some crazy * and have staggered stuff via Crewe or Preston before in order to get 3 quid fares. I take it you are onto the 10am to Birmingham they do from Glasgow to New St for giveaway prices, only in some midweeks however

For me Coventry is a doddle to drive to so might well consider this if can find somewhere free to park

There's a train from Canley (just outside Coventry) that has free parking for rail users, and the first train to Coventry leaves at 6:17 and gets in at 6:20, nicely in time for your 6:30. :50:
