Exactly, he's strangely more influential in Europe than in the SPL. In the SPL he'll always be super sub and a very handy one to have.

So Broony has an injury already, he tends to be on the sidelines injured quite often, Kayal missed 6 months. Football's unpredictable. Midfield is the one area where you really need cover, or we go into Europe and get torn apart.

People think that if we get rid of Ki, we'll turn into Barcelona. We simply can't go into a game against the likes of Barcelona and play three attacking midfielders, although we can in the league. It's about finding a balance between the two competitions.

With Ki in the squad, we'll be more adaptable. He's a good option to have there.

We don't have to sell a player and go out and buy half a team like some people believe. The team is their and it's settled.

I would start him in the next 3 CL games with kayal and ledley beside him in mid.

funny how a lot of people were saying we should sell but now the prevailing opinion seems to be that we need him for europe. if he cant split an spl defence with a pass then he wont do a thing at european level.

he is behind brown, ledley, kayal and wanyama. punt him and bring in someone who actually is technically superior to the rest of scotland.

Expect to see Ki leave for £8.7m before the end of the transfer window. I'm a big fan and technically he's probably our best player but we can't knock back kind of money.

£8.7 million plus the Champions League money puts us in an awesome position. Sets us up for the next three seasons.

    Sets us up for what?

So far we havent spent any money and if we do get into the CL we have no reason to sell him and if we do it will weaken out team. Put it this way if we sell him and get CL and dont buy a couple of players or spend a bit on one player like upto 4 mill, then something is wrong.

I'd sell Hooper before i'd think about selling Ki, and I love Gary.

If Ki was playing the way he has for Korea at the olympics, for say a Spanish team, he'd easily be in the £15-20 category.

I don't think Scottish football fans truly appreciate a player of Ki's ability.

We should keep him as long as possible.

Why is it that Ki who is rated so highly in monetary value on this forum is the midfielder that loads of posters want rid of? If he is supposedly highly prized by Arsenal and or Man Utd why do we think he is a player we can do without?

The SPL doesn't suit his type in my oppinion.

Players like Brown, Kayal, Ledley and Wanyama, who will put in a hard graft, but who also have some technical ability, will always take priority in this league to a playmaking passing specialist like Ki. Opposition teams in our league try and pack the midfield and sit in for the duration of the match hoping for the odd counter-attack won't let players like Ki play their natural game, often hassling them out the game.

Take someone like Nakamura for example. No one could doubt Shunsuke Nakamura's technical ability, but he wasn't always able to utilize it, especially in away games where sometimes he would totally vanish. I've read a lot of opinions on this board about Ki simply not having a big enough impact on games. What we forget is that he's still a relatively young lad in a completely different culture to what he's used to.

If anyone has been paying attention to the Olympics and to Korea in particular, they wouldn't help but notice the MotM performances he's been puting in. Against a very good Brazil team, their midfield simply didn't get near him. He also finished that match with a passing percentage above 90%. A real indicator of the player we have at our disposal.

There's a reason teams like Arsenal are sniffing around. He's a genuinely class footballer with so much grace on the ball, and I only hope we get to watch him grow as a player, and he's able to add the attributes to his game to succeed in our league.

All this talk of him not getting in our team is actually bullshit, when he is fit and not involved in travelling back to the Asian games and stuff in the middle our season, he is in the team.

5th choice is just stuff people on here post. Last season I remember him playing most of not all of our important European matches, then in the tail end of the season he faded off. Lad has not had a proper pre season or a Christmas off in ages. Also he won't have it again this year!

I don't get this idea that technically gifted players can't play well in the SPL. Does that mean Xavi would fail in the SPL?

Chances are he would be marked out th game and spend more time on the injury table than most.

Also, for xavi or any player like that to be as good as they are, they need similar players around them.

Not having this at all xavi would be class playing here please don't say he would not FFS

so are you now saying to be good you need good players around you at all times?

if everyone in the middle of the park is fit at celtic then Ki will not be in the starting 11

Ki is important for us and gives us some technical craft in the middle of the park others dont have. I dont want him to leave and rather see creative players stay in Scotland to improve the game. We have no other central creative players in the team other than Ki. Brown and co do have some creativity but not as much as Ki. Unless we get a creative miodfielder in to replace Ki I want him to stay.
