Has to be Barnes for me.

He had lots of money to spend unlike the others.

Not really old enough to remember Barnes so going for Mowbray. I personally wanted him out by about November. And I actually don't rate him as a manager at all. Look at Hibs 04-05, he had Whittaker, Caldwell, Ian Murray, David Murphy, Brown, Sproule, Shiels, Kevin Thomson, Stephen Dobbie, Guillaume Beuzelin, Riordan, O'Connor and Fletcher. Yet he never won anything and could only finish 30 points behind the OF in 3rd place. Hardly impressive with the team available and John Collins won the CIS cup a few seasons later after a good number of those players had gone. Although Mowbray was * if he hadn't mauled WGS's team then we wouldn't have the likes of Kayal, Hooper, Forster, Izaguirre, Wanyama etc so not all bad

i Voted for mowbury, just coz the results and football weren't great. He inherited some strong players and a semblance of a team at least, then decided to try and dismantle it overnight. ERROR. I grew up watching the macari and brady teams, its hard to attribute blame or call them bad managers as they were dealing with a club, that was going bust, terrible leadership from the owners and board. and just had no money to spend, I loved it when burns arrived. Barnes was not a football manager or coach. The chief exec at the time was an idiot to listen to Dalgiesh, who was a fool to suggest his old buddy from Liverpool.

An interesting point to make, is who out of all those names is still a working football manager??

Tony Mowbray, will never forget the St Mirren game, he stood there as if he hadn't a care in the world. I remember he was asked something like "Did he feel under pressure" and he said something along the lines of "No, it's only a job" - Something like that anyway.

Tony Mowbray. Which is a clear indication that he is not the worst manager of the 4.

You're slagging Tony Mowbray for the job he did at Hibs? Seriously??

    • Hibernian finished in the top 4 in the SPL in both of Mowbray's seasons in charge there. They hadn't managed to do that since the 1970's!
    • You say he never won anything, how many managers of clubs other than Celtic and Rangers do win anything in Scotland? Very few. So that's a bit of a weak reason to criticise the job he did.
    • Whittaker, Caldwell, Thomson, Brown, O'Connor, Riordan etc were young players when Mowbray had them. Mowbray helped to mould and develop all of them. Every one of them would tell you that they enjoyed playing for Mowbray and that Mowbray helped progress their careers.
    • Attendances at Easter Road rose while Mowbray was in charge so it's clear the Hibs fans enjoyed what they were being served up. Hibs average crowd had dropped to nearly 9,000 before Mowbray came along but was back up to nearly 14,000 by the time he left. He must have been doing something right!

Just because Mowbray didn't have a good time of it at Celtic does not make him a bad manager. He did a great job at Hibs and he did a good job at WBA as well. Both sets of fans were sad to see him leave. Mowbray is now in the process of successfully turning around the shambles that he inherited from a certain ex-Celtic manager at Middlesbrough.

Folk on here can kick him all they want but Mogga is no mug.

John Collins won the CIS cup the season after Mowbray left Hibs. And look at WBA now. They were a yo-yo club under Mowbray and are an established EPL club now thanks to Hodgson and Di Matteo. He's definitely good at bringing through young players and as a manager of a club with no expectations he's not bad. But in all honesty I can't ever see him being anything more than a high-level championship manager or at a SPL club. And tbh I genuinely think that Hibs squad should have challenegd for titles. Mowbray's second season was the one where Hearts finished above Rangers and won the Scottish Cup. Why couldn't that have been Hibs?

John Collins won the CIS Cup with what was essentially Mowbray's team. Once Mowbray's players started leaving Hibs, and Collins had to build his own team, he struggled and resigned. If you're suggesting John Collins is a better manager than Mowbray then I strongly disagree.

Hearts budget was far above Hibs budget in 2005-06. Hibs have a wage cap of around £3,000 whereas Hearts were paying Edgaras Jankauskas £10,000 a week alone. They also had a squad of 30 odd players including the likes of Craig Gordon, Andy Webster, Steven Pressley, Takis Fyssas, Julien Brellier, Paul Hartley, Rudi Skacel, Edgaras Jankauskas and Roman Bednar. Bottom line, they had a better team than Hibs and more money than Hibs.

Why couldn't Tony Mowbray win the CIS cup with Tony Mowbray's team though? And he didn't really build that team, most of the youth players were already established in the first team when he joined (Broony played 41 times the season before Mowbray joined) and quite a few players were already there (Gary Caldwell, Stephen Glass). Mowbray only signed David Murphy (later sold for £1.5m), Dean Shiels (sold for £50k) and Guillaume Beuzelin for free. And Ivan Sproule for £5k (sold for £500k). He also less succesfully signed Simon Brown in goals. Although he did really well in bringing those players in for low fees, that was about the only thing I think he was actually succesful in. I think with the exception of Sproule (who tbf was linked with Dnipro in Ukraine) every player Mowbray had has gone on to play for either the Old Firm or in a top European league. With that team I think he should have done so much better. And Hearts might have had more money than Hibs but Rangers had more money than Hearts.

You could look at Mowbray's time at Hibs and say he did well in finishing top four twice bringing in some good players and doing ok in the cups. But IMO he didn't do well because that team should have been challenging for the title and should have got to cup finals and done better in europe. If anything Mowbray's time at Hibs was very similar to his time at Celtic. He brought in some good players, got to the latter stages in cups and performed up to the minimum standard in the league. But an ambitious and talented manager would have done a lot better with either team.

I feel a little sorry for Barnes, up until Henrik broke his leg in Lyon we were playing some good stuff, then Henrik breaks his leg and it all goes * up.

Would O'neill have won the league without Larsson?

Henrik Larsson proved himself without quetion to be the greatest Celtic player in modern times and one of the greatest of all time, I often wonder how things might have turned out for Barnes had Henrik not broken his leg.

Also I think Viduka and Larsson together were ripping teams appart at the start of the season and after his leg break they didn't play much more as a partnership

    i'll go for Brady
