What are your opinions on this if the footballing authorities were to implement this new card into the game? How do you think this could be implemented if you agree it should. A blue card for talking sake.

I think that the 'blue card' could replace the first yellow card in a sense that the blue card means a sin bin for 2 mins or so. And if you commit a foul again you get a yellow card and your sent off.

If the foul or offence doesn't warrant a blue card the first yellow will be used. These are instances such as celebrating with the crowd etc.

I think a sin bin for 10 minutes is a good idea.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say, anything adjudged to be worthy of a yellow should be a sin bin offence. This way the team whose player commits the foul is punished, as the other 10 on the park have to pick up the slack for that time, and there is a clear advantage for that period. Also mean, how often do you see a player being given a yellow, but the player that has been fouled has to be taken off the pitch for a period of time - what advantage is there in that for the team that have done no wrong.

Increasing the ramifications of a yellow would also have 2 knock on effects:
    1. Players would be far less rash if they knew they were going to be binned for 10 minutes, leaving their team short & if a goal is scored against them etc, then is sure to get a blast from the manager, so it cuts down on the silly yellows.
    2. If the refs know that giving yellows carries this kind of repercussion, they might not be so quick to hand them out for nothing offences.

Obviously a red will still be a send off, where the player plays no futher part, but I do think that a sin bin in football is definately a good idea. :50:

In Switzerland when you are a youth player and get a yellow card you have to sit out for 10 mins.

Not a big fan of that to be honest.

    2 yellows = red = off = 1 game ban
    Too many yellows accumulated= ban
Straight red = 2 game ban

I say if it aint broke, don't try and fix it.

They should introduce a black card for flagrant acts of hunnery. The offender should be ushered into the bowels of the stadium before being forced to listen to a rebel mixtape with their balls in a vice.

Period of punishment dependant upon the gravity of the offence, as adjudged by an impartial panel consisting of Scott Brown, Artur Boruc and Stokesy's Da.

I wouldn't be in favour of another card and tbh some ref's can't cope with the 2 we have at the moment ffs.

Don't like the idea of a new card or sin bin.
But taz you mentioned when a player commits a foul and the player comes off for treatment, I would find it fairer if the player who injured the other should come off until he player has been treated or subbed.

Seems like a decent idea, but has many flaws. Like would a keeper be allowed this card and have to go to a sin bin?

another card would just cause confusion there are already enough arguments over if an offence is a yellow or red card

I'm up for changes to the game but not this one. Could you imagine a moment in the match where several players get booked during a brawl! Would be 7 a side.

    Not for me.
