Just wondering if anyone on here is unlucky enough to be in the 13% of the population who contract chicken pox twice?

I was diagnosed on Sunday, slept all day yesterday but now feeling a bit better. Not got much of a classic rash, but must have at least 20 mouth ulcers.

Was amazed by the fuss made when I phoned NHS 24 on Sunday morning, initially thought they were insect bites or something. Within half an hour got a call from a consultant at the hospital asking me to come in within the hour, kept in isolation while waiting and then prescribed a course of Anti Viral medication. Felt very guilty walking past a full A and E waiting room! Kept thinking "there are people here who need to see a Doctor much more than me"

Have worked with kids for years, must've been exposed loads of times but just assumed since I'd had it as a child I couldn't get it again. Urban myth apparently.

Very sorry to hear this. A very good friend of mine had it as an * after babysitting his nephew who had it at the time & he ended up being very ill for about 6 or 7 weeks at least.

Have my complete sympathy & hope you get better soon.

Had it twice when I was still young. The first time it was a very mild case, the second time was much worse. Hope you feel better and don't scratch them unless you want to have scars!

Remember the doctor telling me it was far worse for males than females.

Thanks guys, honestly didn't know so many people got this more than once, just seem to be sleeping lots.

This fits, reading this thread I appear to have got off lightly.

Was even considering going to the game tomorrow night, would this be incredibly selfish? I know I might infect other people and if it gets that bad for some then maybe not such a good idea :54:

Of course you should stay away from the game.

A wee kid could be sitting beside you, even if an * is beside you,you should stay away.

l had it when l was young which l can't remember and caught it again when l was 26 but was actually over the worse before it was discovered. Got a fortnight off work and told to stay away from everyone. lt usually comes back as shingles which l believe is very painful.

Horrible thing to have Arran. As much as you'd love to go the game if not fully recovered best stay away.

I'll be up in an hour to make good use of your ticket. :icon_mrgreen:

    Get well soon. :50:

I got the Chicken Pox back in February. Absolute torture, took me 3 weeks to get rid of it, losing about 3 stone in the process. Have always been told that you only can only get it once in your life but this has put the fear into me lol. Awful few weeks that was

It would be totally selfish of you to go to the game, you could infect loads of people....people with poor immune systems due to other health issues....pregnant women and with that there is also a risk to the unborn child....even if you don;t infect them directly they could carry it home.

Chicken Pox is * males can be really dangerous....so I'm afraid it's a no go.
