When was the last season Rodwell did 'very well' in the premiership? Because it certainly wasn't either of the last two. Wanyama is vastly superior in every department.

Rodwell has already been capped at International level, which thereofre results in a (vastly) inflated transfer fee. However, sadly, 29 caps for Kenya does not hold quite the same pull. As such, a fee for Wanyama anywhere NEAR what has just been plucked out by cash-rich Citeh for Rodwell seems highly unlikely.

Oh, and agree that last season Rodwell did very little. 2 seasons ago, however? He was impressive for a guy of that age - disputing that seems a bit strange in all honesty.

In 2010/2011 Rodwell was no better than in 2011/2012. Probably even worse, although he played a bit more. It was the season people stopped viewing him as destined for a team like Man Utd and Everton fans started wishing they'd taken the money. This transfer baffles me.

It wasn't just a "bit" more admittedly JS - he played the sizeable majority of league games for a team finishing 7th in the EPL. Even last season (where he did not perform to as great an extent for Everton) he won 2 senior caps. Sad to say, that places a certain value on a guy which regular SPL football can not.

Transfer also baffles me however - I agree with that entirely. Not good for the player (bar his bank account) and for Citeh themselves....Mancini hardly looked enthused when asked about it before the Charity Shield, did he? It looked like someone had just pished in his tea cup rather than signed a magnificent prospect for his team!

24 games is a fair amount but considering how stretched Everton's squad is it's not a great. Coleman, who I wouldn't consider to be a great prospect either, played more than that.

    Pished in his teacup. :56:

The way I see it for Wanyamaa, and our other valuable players, until we start performing in Europe like a premiership side, we will struggle to sell players at the same price, a decent champions league campaign could turn players like kayal, wanyama, forrest and hooper into £10 million players! (I know some people but think they are right now, but I can't see anyone paying for more than 7 million for any of these players)

The inflated price for rodwell comes from him being english and young.

If i am not wrong i am sure there is a quota either in place or coming in place regarding home nationality numbers.

Also we got to remember although some transfers are vastly inflated you look at some and think thats a great deal. . . wages aside.

podolski. . . . . cabaye. . .demba ba . . . papa cisse. . . bosingwa. . . and so on. fees of around 5 to 7 mill are becoming more and more frequent for quality players.

Michu - £2m! Absolute bargain, especially if he keeps up anything like the kind of form he appeared to be on today.

The fact that players such as Rodwell cannot hold down a regular place in one of the worst england teams i have ever seen in 45 years of watching football says it all about how good he actually is.

8 players in the squad of 25 have to have been trained in England, City are short on that, hence why they are also interested in Sinclair.

He meant the national team I believe.

All the talk about Rodwell being overrated and overpriced . Can anyone tell me what Wanyama has done to warrant a £7-10m price tag??? Hes not good enough to get a game at centre half and at spl level he isnt good enough on the ball to play in the middle for us. His only position is a defensive mid in a midfield 5 where he just sits in front of the defence. Even then he is very rash and his passing is poor but talk of a big transfer fee baffles me. A move to City is just laughable in my opinion.

His ball retention is terrible. He gives the ball away more than anyone else in our team.
