Had my iPhone about 4 months, had no problems with it untill yesterday when all of a sudden the volume stopped working. I can't turn up the volume at all, so if I was watching a YouTube video, or on an app it is just silence. However, the alarm works fine, and I can hear ringtones and occasionally the click tone you get when typing out texts etc.

This happened to anyone before, and does anyone have possible solutions? I had a quick google search but didn't really help. Any help would be appreciated :50:

Take it to the Apple store, sure they have 2 different speakers. Internal and external. They will probably give you a new phone.

Happened to my gf's iphone 4. She couldn't hear folk when they phoned her but it was ringing, obviously it's a different type of problem but still sounds like a speaker issue.

this is your only option i'm afraid.

i've heard of this happening before with peoples phones. you could probably take it to a local repair merchant who will replace your speakers for you but you'd have to pay them and apple should replace your handset for free.

Yeah I'll bring it in, just hoping that it won't cost me any money to replace or fix it. * annoying :31:

Won't cost you if it's only a few months old.

Sounds like water damage. I used to take my iphone 3gs in the bathroom to listen to music when in the shower. After a couple of weeks the speaker gradually got weaker then completely broke. Luckily it was insured and replaced.

It thinks there is earphones plugged in constantly. Plug a set in and out quickly to try and budge the dust/stickyness that has stuck the switch at the bottom of the jack.

Failing that some cleaning fluid on an earbud or something.
