Kenyan international Victor Mugubi Wanyama is set to stay at Celtics for another season despite reported interest from English Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Swansea.

The mercurial defensive midfielder has been a hot property with speculation on an intended move in the off season but sources close to the player intimate that the player and his agents feel he has alot of time to develop before making the move to the EPL.

"Mugubi will be staying at Celtic as he would not like to rush in his career. He wants to build a solid place for himself at Celtic and is feeling comfortable. He is not worried about making more money as he clearly knows that will come at the appropriate time."

"He loves Celtic and this is the team he will be playing for next season," sources told SuperSport.com.

Mugubi was instrumental in Celtic clinching the Scottish Premier League crown under coach Neil Lennon who signed him from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot.

Mugubi is currently on holiday in Nairobi after arriving back from Togo where he played for the national team in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier where Kenya was knocked out by the Hawks.

If the above is true- this makes my day!! We need toughness in our team and this guy brings it.
I brought my mate up to the Hearts game and he had never seen Wanyama- but his comment to me was 'no f*cker is going to get past that f*cker!!! :50:- C'mon Vic get stuck in lad!

Glad to hear he's staying, but hope he's intending to extend his contract, rather than running it down.

He's the kind of solid midfielder I want to see. Not just a large Bobo-style lump who gets stuck in, but a cultured and aware footballer, who's always looking for something constructive to do with the ball once he's got it. :50:

Really hope this is true. I'll be delighted if he was to stay.

I'll believe it if he's still here come the end of the window though.

I agree. I think he's got the most potential out of the current bunch.

Fantastic news if he even stays for just another season as big Vic is the one player we have who really could go on to play at the highest level :50:

I hope this is true but I wouldnt go by SuperSport.com articles to be fair, he came out himself and said that a move to england would be a good option for him should it materialize
