Firstly apologies that is not strictly on the correct part of the board but I wanted the info quickly and the travel part of the board seemed too quiet to get a prompt reply.
I am coming up with my young son for the game in July and will be coming into Glasgow via Edinburgh as we are staying there after the game. I plan to get the train in to Glasgow ahead of the game from Edinburgh Haymarket and think I probably need to get the train to Central Station. Is this the best option and from there do I get the train or bus to Celtic Park? I have seen that Dalmarnock Station is shut so would I use Bridgton? If bus is best which number and from where as the numbers given on your club website did not tally with the bus company website? Also post match what would our best bet be to get us back to Haymarket? Sorry for so many questions but you'll appreciate coming up with a 12 year old I want to ensure a problem free trip.
Thanks for any help and I'm sure we will enjoy it as much as we did at Carrow Road, I know my son was very impressed with your support!

Haymarket train should bring you into Queen Street station. From there walk out the front entrance and cross over George Square. Walk down Queen Street until you hit Argyle Street, ( about 5 minute walk). From there get the Glasgow First line bus numbers 61 or 62 heading East. Both will take you along the Gallowgate and stop outside Celtic Park. You can't miss it.

No change given on our bus's so have coins to hand and get a return ticket.

Post match just reverse the journey.

The most frequent bus to celtic park would probably be the 62, that will take you to outside the retail park at the back end of the stadium and then its just a 5 minute walk around to the away end. Buses to the main enterance of the stadium i am not too clued up on, i know the 43 runs to their but i think that stops really early??.

Not too sure about the trains, you could possibly get off at bellgrove station and walk it but thats about 20 minutes (turn left when walking out the station then take left at Gallowgate and its a striaght road to the stadium).

Looking forward to having yous guys up. Mid-Week game isnt going to attract a major crowd probably but its a season book game for us so should help things.

If you go straight from Haymarket to Celtic Park and straight after the game back to Haymarket, you should consider taking the train to Bellgrove (this is closer to Celtic Park than Queen Street or Central Station).

Itineraries can be found here: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/

If you want to spend some time in Glasgow city centre or want to experience the "Green Mile" (walking from the city centre through the Gallowgate - EDIT: it is a pretty big walk (40 min), so maybe better to avoid this with 12 year old - one of the reasons I do it this way is to get into the pubs, but with a child that will not be possible), you should take the train to and/or from Qeen Street.

would it not be a nice gesture, for one of our fans going in that direction arrange to pick the lad up, be it a supporters bus or car and drop him of at the station.

When you get to queen st station go to low-level and take the train to Bellgrove then you have a 10 min walk to Celtic Pk.

Knowingly posting a thread in the wrong section of the forum, just so you can get a quicker reply, is not acceptable. Bear this in mind in future.

I'm sure I've seen Haymarket on the Central boards, from there you can get the lower platform to Bridgeton and it's about a 10 minute walk up the road. (I would normally recommend Dalmarnock but as you know, that is closed, means I'll be using Bridgeton station instead for the league games).

Thanks for that - would you say train would be better then as we will already be at Queen Street?

Get the train from Haymarket to Glasgow Queen St. then go to Queen St. Lower Level and take the train to Bellgrove. Celtic Park is about a 10-15min walk from Bellgrove station. There'll be other Tims on the train so just follow the crowd.

looks like I can go to Central or Queens street depending on which train I get from Haymarket, but it looks like Bellgrove mentioned by Silenzio can be reached direct from Haymarket? Is it a good choice? Walkable? Safe to walk back to post match? Hopefully it will be a warm evening so we can wear our Canary shirts.

Bridgeton is normally a no go area for Celtic fans so if you're wearing any mixed scarves or anything with Celtic on it, keep it tucked away if you're going through there but it is a mid-week friendly so there shouldn't really be any trouble.

I'm sure all trains from Edinburgh go to Queen St so it's probably best to just wait there and get a train to Bellgrove or Duke Street stations. Once you arrive there it will be impossible to get lost as there will be Green people to follow, and a rather large stadium in your way.

If you can stop off at Bellgrove direct from Haymarket then do that. Like I said, it's a 10-15min walk to Celtic Park and you'll be perfectly safe.

It has to be Bellgrove then if you are coming from Haymarket, its also very close to alot of the big Celtic pubs on the Gallowgate and a small walk to Bairds where I am certain you will be given a great welcome by all.
