No. Because of our performance in every single game so far. That was a "strong" celtic team today. Because despite what a lot of people think, we win in the SPL because of the poor quality of league.

We're a good SPL team, but we're not built for Europe.

EDIT: I'd be happy for the team to prove me wrong though. And I'll still be at the Helsinki game, I'm just not terribly optimistic.

I've cut your absurdly defeatist bullshit post down but here's a couple responses.

    a) Mulgrew sacrificed himself by stopping a 100% certain goal and giving the keeper a chance with a 50/50 (peno). Anyone would, or should, have done the same in his position.

    b) Do you not remember Arsenal getting battered 8-2 last year? Or Man U getting demolished 6-1 at home? Those games were pretty * meaningful and competitive as well, not irrelevant summer friendlies.

So are Arsenal and Man U pish now because of those results?

I hear what you're saying, and although it veers off thread a bit, I do believe that Lennon is aware of our need for new defenders. His comments are clearly motivated by financial restraint alone rather than just not having ambition.

Signings have never been fast of late and the situation with revenue is not exactly crystal clear. Cash for Players out = Cash players in, that seems to be the formula Lennon has been handed.

Apologies for heading off topic, back to the reality of being thrashed pre-season by Ajax and the cliff jumpers who cant believe it.

What's with all the over-reaction bullshit? Some of you could get a job in the * media. I seem to remember getting pumped 4-0 by DC United in a pre-season friendly back in 2006 and the papers had cracked Celtic crests on the back pages. We ended up winning the double that season and reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, so quit being drama queens.

When did I say that ? A better performance is needed for europe. However, the over reaction to a poor pre season performance is more embarrassing than the performance.

At the end of the day, a friendly is about regaining fitness. The result counts for nothing.

The ironic thing is, the year we got the the UEFA cup final, we lost a friendly, at home, 3-1. And guess who we played. Ajax.

Scores and performances in a friendly mean absolutely nothing.

somebody forgot to tell Ajax that this wasn't a competitive or meaningful game because they certainly had a purpose tonight that me as a fan could only dream of

Aye, but if I recall, we at least had some good performers. Like McGeady.

Practice perfection, then you must perfect your practise, and going by that performance we are no where near it.

If you were in the same position as Mulgrew, with one split second to make up your mind, you would have done the same thing.

Deny it all you like from the safety of an online message board, but everyone on here would have done all they could to prevent the certain goal and as said before, at least give Forster the chance to save it and keep the score down. Also, he wouldn't have known at the exact moment he stuck out his hand that it would be a red card. Players don't think about these things when trying to clear their lines.

We were just lulling HJK into a false sense of security. :icon_mrgreen:

Scout is away home to report that we are pish, then the real Celtic will turn up for the match and they wont know what'* them. :50:

I'm still here reading with interest. Don't post any more 'cos too many people see the side with green specs.

    We are total rank.

We will spend no money until we qualify for CL ? How arrogant, eh ?

No money will be spent then on the strength of a showing like that against Ajax reserves.

It was also a friendly for them so comments like "it doesn't really matter" don't cut it. They had the ability to win. We did not.

I will continue to read the forum but will you stop looking at the side with green coloured specs ?

    Thank you and goodnight.

I go in peace having spoken the truth.:shamrock:

Give us your season ticket money ? Yer havin' a laugh.

I think we might win the league next season though !!!!!!
