Serbian is my native tongue. I speak Croatian as well. You know, it used to be one language known as Serbo-Croatian.
I speak English as my first foreign language although it isn't perfect yet. I have always had a problem with the articles.:56: There aren't the articles in Slavic language and that is my biggest problem with foreign languages. I am a typical Slavic soul. :icon_mrgreen:
I have learned French, for 4 years in high school, but my French is pish. I have never tried to learn it well.
I can read and understand Bulgarian and language of Slavs who live in F.Y.R.O. Macedonia. I can catch some Slovakian phrases.
I would like to learn Spanish which I can understand thanks to telenovelas i used to watch as a kid. I read it and understand it.
I think I will try to "improve" Spanish and also I would like to learn Greek and Gaeilge. Actually, maybe I will go to Greek course next year.

Speak Spanish due to living in Mexico for 5 years. Was really good at French in high school but now I can only remember 'poison rouge' which is goldfish. If I'm ever lost in France I'm humped.

I hated languages at school - mainly because my teachers were twats - although I still remember a bit of Latin. I've been living in Holland for decades so I'm pretty fluent in Dutch and , as my g/f is an Alsatian (! -woof!?!) - she used to teach my kids at school - I can get also get by in French. Despite leaving there as a toddler, I'm still pretty handy in Govanian.

Nice to see that quite a few people on here have learnt Dutch. I have not met many foreigners who learnt Dutch, so I am curious about your accents.

I am a native Dutch speaker. My French is not too bad. Understand a bit of German, but cannot conduct big conversations in German.

i have been to holland a few times and i have to say it sounds like the hardest language to learn. in practice it's probably OK but any time two people speak dutch in front of me i'm perplexed - it all sounds so similar :56::52:

Ditto. I can chat away no problem, but it takes me ages to write even a simple email.
