Euro 2012 Group C

Feel bad for the irish supporters on here. Gonna be tough for you now. Lacked that cutting edge and switched off defensively. Cant see them getting anything from this group now. Croatia could provide an upset in this group.

On a side note Chiles is going to be even more of a * in this analysis.

 

Atmosphere is top class, would love to go to France in 2016, especially if Ireland qualified.

 

Ireland did seem to do better towards the end. Bringing on Walters was a good move, he held the ball up well and put himself about. They really needed that sort of powerful striker sooner. Disappointing from Ireland who should have done better, Croatia good value for the win, though you could say Ireland were unlucky with a couple of penalty appeals turned down.

 

They got more of a hold of the game but I think that was as much Croatia deciding to sit back. Agree that two out and out wingers and two strikers doesn't particularly work well. It killed us under Mowbray.

Not watched Ireland as much as other obviously but I'd consider 4-5-1 with Long up front on his own.

Ireland weren't good enough but they certainly didn't get the rub of the green at all. Very unlucky at times and * officiating.

Yeah, they'll need to try something along those lines. The key is getting a load of workers flooding that midfield. Forget about the wingers.

 

Ireland will really struggle in the remaining games.

Unlucky Irish bhoys you should have had a peno and conceded some dodgy goals but tbf you were never gonna beat Croatia.

Modric was * superb tonight, totally ran the show.

well I cant say I am surprised, trap got his tactics all wrong, announcing his team 5 days ago was pretty stupid since croatia had their gameplan down perfectly to counter it, whelan was *, st ledger besides his goal was pretty bad, oshea was horrible so was doyle, mcclean should have started instead of duff,


next game I would love to see

This. Croatia weren't great either, they deserved to win, but all 3 of their goals were lucky especially the last one.

 

I actually think if they defend well the next two games could suit their style. Counter and break at pace. Need to defend better though. Don't think this will be a popular shout but I'd play Gibson too.

 

That wasn't the team I watched throughout qualifying. Lacked the determination that got us here. Better team definitely won, but if we'd got that stonewall penalty we could have gotten a draw there, no doubt about it. Proud of the fans though, once again showing we've some of the best in the world.

Felt Ireland were unlucky with the Jelavic goal and the Keane penalty, but overall Croatia deserved to win.

Reminded me though - we haven't had the traditional "Sean St Ledger to Celtic" thread yet, and it just doesn't seem like summer without it.

Who's going to get the ball rolling?

Yes, Croatia are winning, but at least our manager doesn't look like he'd try to sell you a bag o' yokes.

 

Given really had no right to concede those two headers. A keeper at this level, least of all one of Given's ability, shouldn't be getting beaten like that.

 

The second one was very unlucky imo
