None of the teams we could face our better than us. The things that swing it against us are their vastly superior match fitness and sharpness, and the distance we have to travel to play them.
We really don't want to be getting someone from far eastern Europe, especially as we're going over to America next week just for one game.

What the players need at this point in the season is to get settled into a rhythmn and find their feet, not be shifted about all over the place between different time zones and whatnot.

I think though our preparation has been 100% better this year than last and the players certainly were far better against HJK than they were vs Sion, so promising signs so far.

Are you basing that on their team, players, recent results etc or due to the fact they have "funny names" and aren't household giants of football? Not that I'm saying we shouldn't knock them out but let's not assume anything.

    Keeping the Faith in Europe!

I would just like to say that after Wednesday's performance, I have absolute faith that we will qualify for the group stages. The way we came out and attacked from the off was inspiring. if we had been a couple of competitive games into the season then I have no doubt that we would have seen the net bulge 4-5 times easily.
I know people have doubts to our mental maturity to deal with big games, I would like to remind you of November and being 15 points in the shadow of our old enemy* and fighting with everything the bhoys had just to win a game and then, with our chance to change the tides just before the New Year, thanks to the head of Joe we took the lead, and we never looked back. Or even in what was to be the last ever "old firm" game we truly took the game to them and let them know what being champions was all about.
So, holding all of this in our hearts and minds, I say to you all: "Keep The Faith" and believe that Lenny and his team of Celtic Hero's can and will take on some of Europe's greats and win.

    Hail, Hail!

    Euannnnnbhoy

*Old Enemy refers to an old team formally known as Rangers (Rip 14 Feb 2012) that often tarnished our fine reputation by association through what was known as "The Old Firm".

:bbpd: Don't be talking of ''those'' in here :56:. And fair enough was a bit silly to say we were definitely going out. I Still believe we are going out so much so that if i was a betting man and also not a celtic fan i would shtick a tenner on it. I just can't see us winning over there and felt the only way we would progress was with a 2/3-0 win at home. So that's why a scrappy 2-1 win seriously * me off.

I think one important thing that powered the comeback on Wednesday was the fans. I mean the reaction from them when we conceded was unbelievable, and after we equalised, it was the same thing and we got the winner. But I was quite disappointed because after that we kind of died down and nothing else really happened on the pitch. I just wish the whole stadium kept and I think we might have got a few more goals. But now, we've only got a one goal lead with an away goal conceded which is very dangerous, and may well put us out. But I'm quite confident we'll get a win in the second leg as long as the synthetic pitch doesn't affect us to much :87:

Think some people are far too hard on our team sometimes, writing us off against any opponent we face in Europe as though we're the worst team there. Nice to see someone being so positive about our chances for a change. :50:

The only thing that troubles me is our abysmal away record. It has been a millstone round our neck for years, different teams and different managers and it still haunts us. We get a good game now and again, a very occasional win but more than likely we shoot ourselves in the foot and it's groundhog day all over again.

I really hoping I'm proven wrong, we win 2-0, go and and win away in the next round and in the 3 Champions League matches in the groups as well :icon_mrgreen:

I think we are good enough not to lose against Helsinki and while I expect it to be close, I think we will progress. The next round however is a different matter altogether. Sadly I do not fancy our chances against a lot of the teams we might face.

Had a funny feeling since the end of the season that we'd draw HJK then Helsingborg (who I don't think would've been fancied to make it to the play-off round). Said on Twitter that we'd draw Helsinki just before the draw was made. If we get through and get Helsingborg, I'm taking it as a sign. :56:

Anyone know the 5 teams were more than likely to face if we beat this mob tonight?
