How do we get in if we win the league? Automatic group stages or qualifiers?

2 qualifiers through the Champions route. Tbh I'd be incredibly disappointed if we didn't make it, the 2nd qualifier would be against the likes of (judging by last year's playoffs) Malmo, Genk, Viktoria Plzen, Sturm Graz etc.

If we can't beat those teams then we don't deserve to make the group stages, but with the way the team's shaping up, I can see us getting through tbh.

I really hope for group stages. It would make it so easy for me to watch games here...plus I could finally watch in HD!

embarassing that belgium, denmark and romania are better seeded than us. i think we would beat any team from any of these leagues at least 8 times out of 10

because quals are now split between champs and best placeed our first qualifier will be against the likes of Ventisplis, Shamrock or Molde. I'd expect us to win that round quite easily tbh

The Champions route is a * of a lot easier than trying to qualifying as a non-champion. We won't have to face off the teams that finish 3rd or 4th in the major European leagues.

It's the round after that which worries me...we could face a proper good side, at least one a match for us. It'll come down to tactics and whoever has the strongest will. Should be one helluva contest. :celt_2:

Only just scraped under coming in at the 2nd qualifying round. We need all involved in europe to have a couple of good seasons and get that co-efficent score up and get that automatic champions spot back.

Going to be a big ask. Teams outwith Celtic and rangers have let Scotland down for years. Last team to do well was Aberdeen about5 years ago. Most teams fall at the first hurdle.
Even if we can have 2 teams in the group stages of each tournament for a couple of seasons will be great. And by the looks of it, no huns in europe for 3 years gives other teams the opportunity to try and make a name for themselves whether it be int eh CL or EL.

I'm reasonably comfortable going into the qualifiers tbh. We managed to beat Spartak under a powder puff Mowbray, Lennon should have no problems against that tier of opposition. Especially if the draw is favourable and the 2nd leg is in Paradise.

It takes a few years to catch up mind, would you be confident of beating them 8/10 times under Mowbray? I certainly wouldn't.

i think the whole system stinks tbh you look t the table it's all designed to benefit the English, Spanish, German, Italian and French teams.

I wish they either change the name of the competition to something more fitting as its really not the 'Champions League' or the champions of the leagues should get auto group stage. At the moment its champions plus 2nd and 3rd depending on what country you bide from. Money, money, money tis what its all about :)

What quality of teams can we expect in the qualifiers? Will we be seeded for the draw? If not we could have little to no chance against the likes of Spurs or Arsenal.

Seeing as we will be in thee Champions path, pretty sure it's impossible for us to meet the like of Arsenal/Spurs in qualifiers.

    Yeh I think you're right.

Wikipedia doesn't break it down very well, but the Champion status effectively acts as a seeding and we wouldn't be drawn against a team from the top 5 of europe.

The 4th place teams from England Spain & Germany, as well as the 3rd place team from Italy & France will be seeded in the Non Champions Route, which means we couldn't get tied with any of these. The remaining teams from these countries gain automatic qualification.

Totally agree mate, and our cause isn't helped by the total and utter * quality of teams around us. Them getting pumped out with a loss in both legs most of the time basically means that we depend on our results an those of the Huns to boost our coefficient to anything significant. Also not helped by how terribly the Huns fare in Europe after their cup final run a few years ago. Whereas countries like France England Spain etc have 3 or 4 teams getting straight through or 1 quali before the group stages, an they'll face * teams and get easy wins to keep their coefficients high. Totally top team biased system but hopefully the financial fair play laws will remedy this a bit. Still I'd fancy us with our current side to get through to the group stages, we definitely have the squad to do it. A few seasons of that and maybe we can try an aim for the heights WGS hit.
