So I've had a woman round today because I rang her about a job delivering Kleeneze catalogues around town. It's a multi-level marketing thing, if I present 50 catalogues per day for 5 days a week apparently I should earn £700 per week. Obviously I can work when I feel like it, have days off and have no boss, so I can go on holiday whenever.

I'm not sure how it works though, she was saying something about me introducing people and having my own "team" but I'm not sure whether this would mean me earning more or not. Also I have to buy the 250 catalogues for £180 before I start, and the woman will come with me on my first day. So it'll be a while before I save up that money anyway.

Does anyone have any experience in this? It seems too good to be true, obviously there may be times when I struggle to get up to 50 per day and I might get the odd bit of abuse, but other than that, sound good? I've been looking for a job and I think this one would suit me, if all is as it seems.

Sounds dodgy mate having to put up money first before you earn any. Where was it advertised?

Sounds like one of those pish pyramid selling schemes and your money will only go to the person the next rung up. Tell them to shove it mate. If it was that easy there would be queues down the street trying to get those jobs.

I got a leaflet through the door advertising it. My mate's sister used to do it apparently, so i think it's all legal enough, plus Kleeneze is a well known company.

She said the first month or two will be hard work every day, and long hours, but after that I'll begin to have regulars and will be making easy money, and can spend Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays trying to expand my customer base or just have those days off, whilst Friday will be dropping to regulars and Mondays will be picking up catalogues.

Seems too good to be true, so thought I'd ask and see if anyone on here knows anything. I'm desperate for a job haha.

    Thanks for the replies.

Ah thanks a lot for that pm mate, seems legit then. Think I'll go for it when I get the money together and see how it goes, if I'm making money then it's better than not doing anything.

Well it's work, I'm not going to be a pilot or a footballer, most of the things I can do will be a lot more boring than knocking doors and asking if people want catalogues. I had a job in a food factory and that was horrible, this is easy compared to that.

MLMs are NEVER a good idea. Its the same thing that happened to the Avon ladies here in North America. It used to be a real job where they'd take the products that the COMPANY owned, rather than nowadays when you buy the product, then sell it.

When the economy hits the drain, many personalised customer service systems like this and here, Avon, turn the system into an MLM because they aren't making any money on the actual manufactured products. They're product becomes the idea of having a job, where you're self employed.

Granted, some people will make money on it, but the vast majority will sink money into the company, then give up after about a year because they've ran out of funds to keep doing it. The profit for large companies behind MLMs comes from people losing money then giving up within a year after.

The overall point I'm trying to make is its not like you're putting a few pounds on Celtic winning next week, you are literally gambling your livelyhood and your ability to pay rent and feed yourself.

Making another reference to the Avon thing is in America, there would be recruiting stations set up at job fairs and the like, then the person would be recruited for a small fee of about 15 dollars. They'd go out and try to sell the product just to find out that many of the women already have Avon ladies or are Avon ladies themselves. MLMs are not set up to sell a product but to sell people into the idea that making money is EASY.

You may as well take every penny you have, go to the casino and put it all on black, because you've got better chances making money that way then getting involved in a glorified ponzi scheme.

Remember, if the testimonies say someone did say, a thousand pounds in sales, they're only getting 50-100 pounds in their pocket! Check the internet for christs sake, you'll find that every MLM has been branded a scam by many people, and adored by a few.

You'll most likely make more money flipping burgers or frying chicken then you ever will in a pyramid scheme.

Hmm yeah, I dunno. It's true enough, but once I've bought those catalogues I won't need to spend any more money and I'll make that back easy. I'd get £3 for giving someone a catalogue and can do it to an unlimited number of houses. Even if I just make my money back I suppose it's a lesson learned and I've not lost anything other than time.

    Thanks for your response.

btw you can make money. the way you do it is by recruiting new agents then taking their money in hopes that they give up after a few months. the only way to make money in a scam is to become a con artist yourself. i wont be judging here, if you think you can do that to people, thats fine. its the way the world * well works and youll just be trying to earn a dime.

BTW, if the people dont order from the catalog, its technically not a delivery. if you read the fine print, you are responsible for going back to those houses and collecting the brochures, then delivering them to different houses, if they dont order. why else would the current agents come back to pick up the brochure and take it regardless of if they ordered? on top of that some people are getting frustrated with the saturation of fecking brochures theyre getting so theyre starting to destroy them. thats money straight out of your pocket, into the company's wallet, because youll have to buy more to recoup the ones youve lost!

on top of that, an MLM isnt designed for you to earn back the money youve sunk into it. its designed for you to lose money or make others lose money for the profit of the company.

Is that right? The shady * told me it was a delivery regardless, as long as they agree to take the catalogue. It was £3 if I knock the door and they take or about 60p each if I just put it through the letterbox.

And I don't think I'd take advantage of others to make money, I know most people probably would but I wouldn't feel right doing it.

Kleeneeze is a reputable company who have been about for years. You would have to be very lucky to earn anywhere near £700 a week as its mainly seen as part time job. l've bought stuff from them as some of the it is quite good but when they deliver they don't seem to have too many other deliveries in the street. The other problem is that you would be lucky to get half of your 250 leaflets/books back as people tend to treat them as junk mail and chuck them in the bin.

It's not a scam an it's 100% legit and legal.

The problem is you have to work your * off to earn anything. Every street has someone selling Kleeneze products, you're competing literally against tonnes of people. It's like Anne Summers, my fiancee used to do that. She worked her socks off an earned £200-£250 a week. Then 3 other people in her street started doing it and she started to have deficits.

It is the amount you'll get BUT you have to buy those catalogs every time you have a round to do, so say you get paid 3 quid for every delivery where you talk to someone, and 60p for everyone through the box. At 1 pound per catalog, you'll receive three pound, for say one successful delivery (they have to TAKE the thing from you), then minus say a generous 50 percent of people don't throw them out, and say you deliver 10 more without actually talking to the person, you'll have lost one pound because of the cost of the catalog (10 pounds spent, then earn back 6 quid for the ones you didn't talk to them with, then gain 3 for the personal one, leaving you with -1 pound deficit)

Keep in mind, not everyone you actually talk to will take a catalog, and most will toss them out if you leave them at the doorstep.

Good way to do it is to canvas local businesses, and ask if you can leave a box of catalogs there, or set up a table at a strip mall. Then you could count each catalog lost as a 2 pound profit instead of a 40p loss. If you do this though you could get caught and I'm sure if your plan is to make money mostly from deliveries, they'll get a bit pissy with you.

You have to be extremely careful too. If you're delivering to a new neighbourhood, how are you going to know you'll be able to recover ANY of them? Like I said its a gamble, all MLMs are.
