I thought a player had to travel for the Country's medical team to have a look at the player, otherwise a player could be pulled out of a squad with a bogus injury by the club and the country wouldn't have a clue. Did the same not happen to Ki last year, he was ill but made to go to Korea and ended up in hospital or something.

Ideally the countrys medical team should liase with the clubs medical team when assessing a players fitness. At end of the day it would probably come down to Sammy himself saying he is fit or not.

I can't find anything on Sky, BBC, STV and even the official site about any injury so maybe it's not as serious as his agent made out with his tweet last night about Sammy being rushed to Glasgow for a MRI!

Apparently Lassad and Miku can both play out wide, as well as up front.

I would play Commons left mid in his absence, which at least means we can accomodate Forrest, Brown and Wanyama/Ledley/Kayal in the same team.

I wonder if this will be the catalyst that makes Lennon change to a 3-5-2 tactic?

Either that or Mulgrew goes to LM?

If Lustig and Matthews are both out I can see a 352

I hope not. We'll get molested in the Champions League if we play 3-5-2.

Every time we've played 352 it's been Matthews on the right side of midfield anyway. If Matthews and Lustig are both out, which I doubt, Ambrose can play right back.

I can't see 3-5-2 working for us in Europe at all, we need to have a solid defence for these games, and I can't see 3 at the back being enough.

3 at the back is arguable more defensive than 4, or at least the way we've used it in the past is, with 2 wing backs in front of the three centre-backs. I very much doubt we will use it in any case, even if Lustig and Matthews are out.

That sounds the sensible thing to do. I would go along with that.

We rely so so much on long diagonal balls into Samaras that he is going to be such a huge miss! His powerful running and plucking the balls out of the air against Helsingborg was vital to us going through! Will be hard to replace!
