    I hate this 'British' attitude that you shouldn't big yourself up, show confidence, say you're going to win. I cannot stand the British 'It's not the winning it's the taking part'.

    Eddie Izzard and Bill Bailey have both summed it up perfectly.

    Well said Adam. We CAN go unbeaten.

    Pretty difficult situation as he can't exactly not respond when being asked the question. Rather he just said 'We're confident in ourselves at the minute and we'll see where that takes us.'

    Anyway if we beat Hearts tomorrow then the headline can be forgotten about.

    You know what I mean mate. The UK seems to be the only place that frowns upon bigging yourself up.

    I do know what you mean. I think I'm just fed up with Celtic players telling me what they're going to do and then not doing it. If they're going to talk the talk then they better be able to walk the walk. That's the way I see it.

    I dont know why people care what players say, they never actually say anything. Matthews never sat down and went "We are going to win the Treble and wont lose another game". Theres not even a single player daft enough worldwide to say anything like that.

    Even Jelavic didnt actually say the League was over. He said "I am delighted and very satisfied with the way this season is going. I am playing well and so are the team. We seem to score in every game. Of course, we need to keep it going and stay in first place. But I think the 12-point lead we have on Celtic should be enough to do that."

    PR trianing is needed for all celtic players, there seem to be a constant foot in mouth when talking to the press. Defleck, playdown, put the pressure on others is the way to react to press questions. Then at the end of the season say what you want.

    Yeah i think there should be a party line that all the players adhere to, Matthews is a young guy and he was asked a loaded question the purpose of which was to create a headline.

    I disagree. For me it has nothing to do with anything but one of two things. One with our own players you do not want ever to see complacency creep into things. But most importantly and especially in this case this infuriates me as this is exactly what will be going up on the hun jrs bulletin board tomorow and I can assure you comments like these do provide motivation for other players and teams to stick it to you. Especialy when like the hun jrs these are teams that really hate you.

    Manager on today's newspaper story: 'People are looking at the headlines, which were very naughty in regards to what Adam actually did say.'

    Manager: 'Adam didn’t say anything wrong or controversial, and he didn’t say anything that the headlines portrayed him as saying.' (PC)

    Manager: 'Some of the tabloids are trying to stir some trouble up for the players, but the players are handling themselves very well.' (PC)

    Good to see Lenny take the media to task on misquoting players comments. Official site has Lenny backing Matthews with;

    We are going to get all this * from now until the end of the season knowing the * are praying we slip up. The lad done nothing wrong and his quote probably grew legs and ran to the newsagents itself.

    I hope he did say it and was gloating like * when he did. Get it up them.
