Thank you all! Especially for the links to watch the games, as the international channels here, doesn't show every match. The Americans did have a meeting and we thought we should take over this forum :86:. Kentucky is renowned for it's very delicious chicken and bourbon. The city I live in is twinned with Bushmills, for our culture of making whiskey. Can't wait to see the bhoys take on the Hearts.

My wife is from Erlanger Kentucky and we spend a week every year at her uncles lake cabin in Williamstown. I take it from your earlier thread that your in bourbon country a little further south then?

Pretty funny how the Scots associate KY with fried chicken. I personally like Christopher Hitchens take a little better. He likened Kentucky to Cuba because both have economies based on vices - horse racing, tobacco and bourbon in the case of KY, cigars, rum and casinos for Cuba.

At any rate, most Americans probably think of basketball when they hear Kentucky.

    Welcome to the board!

I'm in Louisville, but I've been all over the state. Hitchens is right about the vices. The state is trying to get casinos here (especially in Louisville). I am biased. The best bourbon and whiskey comes from Kentucky. I love Louisville's Mint julep during Derby Season. Basketball is very big here. Especially the Cardinal and Wildcat rivalry. When it comes to Basketball, I love the Wildcats and my wife, who is born and raised in Louisville, is a Cards fan. The weird thing is, I'm a Cardinal soccer fan, not so much for the Wildcats.

I've been in Louisville a few times. I spent a lot of time in Lexington when I was in school because my boyfriend went to UK and i came down to visit him a number of times. It's so pretty driving through the tobacco plantations when the tabacco plants are bright yellow. I've always wanted to go to the Maker's Mark distillery, too.

I can't imagine football (soccer) is very popular down there. do any bars show games?

Tobacco is very pretty, but the smell is very strong. Working with it for a while you'll smell like an unlit cigar. The pubs here do on Baxter Ave. like Molly Malone's. They show a good mixture of Rugby, soccer, and the popular American sports. I watched almost every U.S. national team match in the world cup at Molly's. Always very crowded.
