Champions League qualification will be his biggest test. Let's wait and judge him on how we do in that.

There's a huge difference between the importance of our European games coming up, and last season's. We've a whole lot more to lose.

Our domestic season over the next couple of years is going to be pathetic, we need to start making our mark in Europe. Otherwise, what's the point?

If we lose them they will be big games. If we win them they will be what was expected of him.

    Can't really win.

agreed. particularly with the newish champions route set up. were expected, by fans and media, to get there regardless of the opposition. the only way that he couldve gotten any for simply qualifying if it was the old set up and we got a draw similar to that under TM against arsenal.

I've read back the last few pages and I'm catching up with the rest but I had to ask...

Why do you keep saying the huns are bust?

The huns are going bust because they have spending outwith their means for decades, and have spent roughly the same as us in the last 5 years, infact their net spend is considerably higher than ours when you factor in the McGeady transfer amongst others.

    You are a strange fellow.

lennon has lost us 3 cup finals, failed to qualify for europe two seasons in a row, luckily we got in the back door but we only managed 1 win out of 6,1 out of 8 if you count sion ,not really a good europe campain, also atletico and udinese rested top stars and played youthful sides! tbh i think the team he has put together is the worst since john barnes:34:

    Me neither.

I'd like to think he was just fishing though, I hope so anyway.

At the start of this season we had a net spend of zero over the last three years and we had lost the league for two years before Lennon. Why realistically would you have expected better than "just" a league, a cup, and europa group stage?

As regards qualifying for Europe I honestly dont think many people outwith the clubs own fans expect any Scottish team to do anything in Europe anymore. The days on assuming qualification to the champions league are long gone and I expect a very very tricky couple of ties to get us there...

Some folk are just spoiled from the Martin O'Neill era, I'm starting to realise this and I'm not getting as wound up at them any more.

If they want to continue following Celtic when things aren't going our way then they will, if they don't well then it isn't really a loss is it?

Maybe it is an age thing where if you grew up with ONeil and his millions then everything is compared against that. But I just find it weird what kind of benchmark people use to compare celtic against - especially when we win the league comfortably and people still arent happy because we didnt do a treble!

David McNally has just been interviewed on Radio Norfolk "We have not approached Celtic (re: Lennon) and we will NOT be approaching Celtic".

Yes we won the league comfortably, but we also lost two easily winnable trophies - both knockouts were pretty bad performances in my opinion.

Unhappy that we blew the chance to win the treble, but delighted that we finally managed to win the league at the fourth attempt.

I don't think it's a case of them thinking they are too good for Lennon. I think they are just being cautious (understandably) because the EPL is miles ahead of the SPL, due to the money situation, and Neil hasn't really been tested against the likes of Man United, Chelsea and City yet. The toughest test he's come up against as manager so far is Atletico Madrid and even then, there are a good few teams in the Premiership that are better than them.

I do see where they're coming from, as they think he might fail down there and don't want to take the chance.
