so you think if you're name was Patrick Murphy, for example, and you went to a Catholic school, that you'd face no racism anywhere you tried to get a job??? Racism isnt just black vs white mate.

This is a fair point and certainly worth remembering it isnt just a colour v colour issue. But without going off the threads subject, based on only on my experience and that of family and friends, I would say the said person would have as much as getting the job as someone called Billy Smith.

These kind of polls simply highlight the lack of personal responsibility people have for their own failings in my opinion rather than genuine racism.

Yes you're right obviously some specific groups within races based on class or religion or whatever else, get discriminated against.

But in broad terms, I see it that there are only really 2 or 3 "races" on the planet.

Ethnicity is something else, your race can be white and your ethnicity Irish. Your race could be black and your ethnicity American, for example, that's different.

But in your example, I would say Patrick Murphy is not getting discriminated because of his "race" - just because of his religion and background.

Do you see where i'm coming from?

No i dont. There are hundreds of races, not 2 or 3. China alone has 56 ffs. So Pat Murphy is being discriminated against because of his race. From his name you could be 90 per cent sure he is of Irish descent and that is the reason he would face discrimination, not his religion. An Italian or Pole would not face the same hostility and they are most likely Catholic as well.

Sergei Mantis, are you for real???? There's nothing racist about not being able to understand someone but there is about calling someone a *. * disgraceful language to use

And, if you know your history, you'd need to go back a fair way to have an exclusively native British Britain. The only real Brits left are the Welsh. And there have been non-Whites in Britain since the Romans came here. I don't know where your from but I hope you aren't representative of the majority of your countrymen

Experienced it coming out of your own mouth?

Is this meant to be a joke?

I don't know if that whole post is satire and I'm just tired and didn't immediately 'get it', or whether its the most stupid post in this thread, maybe on the forum?

In reference to that video of the boxer, I definitely believe other races get away with a bit more in regards to their comments about whites.

Some parts of London you really don't want to be walking through if you are on your own and white. When Celtic played in the Emirates Cup a few years back, me and my Dad had to get a train from Forest Hill. We were waiting for our train and believe me, outside the train station, and inside it, there was not one white person. Not one. And it was intimidating, because it was as if everyone stared at you. Honestly.

However I've never really been racially abused.

That very last bit of your post reads like something from a BNP manifesto.

as someone who has been racially abused for being mixed race and also welsh, i can tell you nationality racism doesnt come anywhere near the viciousness of being attacked for being a different colour.

and that Serge, if your post isnt an unfunny attempt of satire then your scum

Generally, anything in the Daily Mail about this subject is sensationalist *.

But likewise, the Guardian prints the same stories from a screeching left wing perspective.

There are few newspapers that offer a relatively balanced view. The Scotsman's quite good, but even last week it had a total howler in the neutrality stakes.
