The Rapid fan did rate Salihi. I asked him who he would rather between Salihi and Jelavic and he said something like "Jelavic because of his all round game"

This guy wouldn't be coming in for his Xavi like link up play. He is a target and someone to hit when plan A isn't working.

And yeah, he has a better scoring record at Rapid that Jelavic does.

Ah! Sounds gOOd! We have hOOper and Stokes who can play outside the box. If this guy really is a target man then get him signed.

No. No evidence for it. Just that 3 trialists played, an Irishman and two foreigners played according to Celtic Underground.

Fair enough. I was scanning bigot media, still heid firmly buried over there lol, any way. They actually made a gOOd point, Salihi has way tOO gOOd a record to be on a trial, especially when Pawel, who has a worse record, didn't have one.

Probably a couple of youngsters that won't win us the title then.

Actually he likened him to Boyd and he is not a target man. Target man and poacher are two different things. A target man still has to do a lot of work holding up play outside of the box. The rapid fan stated that he rarely touched the ball outside of the box.

it was me who made the statements about Salihi. however, he is technically sound although not on a Jelavic level.

by the way, right now it seems he just waits for the Rangers to call. The offer he has from China is said to be a 5 Million dollar package, one third of it wouldbe transfer fee for Rapid. so personally i hope he won´t sign a contract in Glasgow (although he would like to stay in europe) :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah I remember mate. Was I right when I said that you likened him to Boyd? Rarely outside the box? Would you class him as a targetman?

i do not know Boyd very well and your terms like "Target man" and "Poacher" confuse the * out of me :87:

but he really does not do a lot of work outside the box. i only saw him score once from outside the box - but not with Rapid but the Albanian national team.

when he is on form, he might touch the ball 4 times during a game scoring 3 times out of it. he can score equally well with any of his body parts, both feet, head, heel, rump.

but yes, if you ask him to do something outside the box, win the ball or deliver for others, he is lost.

Target man is like someone you hit the long ball up to, to knock down, hold it up etc. Normally quite tall, strong etc

Poacher is someone who stays in the box, doesnt move and "poaches" goals, like Boyd who wasn't a great player but scored loads of goals.

then i would consider him rather a poacher than a target man. he is not that tall actually at 185 cm.
