why would the lad want to jump at the first sign a big team want him..... he could stay with us get first team football, C.L football next year win the league were on course for the trebel...he plays well in these comps then his price will rise and be taken more seriously....would be really daft to move.. and i dont think celtic should part with him unless its crazt money in the 8-10m bracket as hes such a talent

He's playing against numpties in SPL, if he leaves to play in a better league then we will see how he copes against classy players, I'll reserve judgement on his world class status till then.

no one said he was currently world class. they, and i am one of them, have said he has the potential to be world class.

That's fine, I was originally replying to big * who was implying that he was already world class.

In fairness, what "world class talent" means to me is that he has the talent to be world class.

i.e. we're talking about potential rather than actuality.

Liverpool are also seriously considering a move for Celtic's young Welsh right-back Adam Matthews with sources suggesting the club are contemplating a bid for the 19-year-old.
    Full story: footybunker

Seriously considering and contemplating in the same sentence, now I'm really hearing things.

Not only are they getting their stories wrong, they don't even know how to tell them! Genuinely shocked that the BBC even published this :56:

    Could be a typo.

Maybe they are seriously considering contemplating a move towards a bid. :icon_mrgreen:

    Sources suggest.

It actually wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, he would get in before the Chelsea reject that's smooth as silk and as classy as a Rolls Royce nae danger.

Matthews must be as smooth as a wains * and as classy as a DB9.

Ah, so i see there's no real point debating this?

Few things - Lahm is a left back. He can play right back, but he plays left back for Bayern (Due to Rafinha's form since his arrival). Low has also stated that because he's playing left back for Bayern, he'll play left back for Germany.

Sergio Ramos - Is good, but he's better at centre back really, isn't he? We can all accept that, no? Plus, Ramos at right back is prone to zoning out from time to time. Hence the reason Mourinho moved him in one.

Maicon - You mean the overweight, lazy * that is currently spending a lot of his time on the bench? Sure, Ranieri has given him a few more chances than Gasp ever did, but the guy is a shadow of the player that Mourinho wanted to take to Madrid. The Bale raping aside, he just lacks motivation these days. Shame, seen as he's an absolute beast and still has some good years left in him.

Messi - Good player, just doesn't strike me as being a right back. Mind you, if he ever did make the switch there, i'm sure he'd be studying the way Glen cuts in on his left foot every time and sets up some chances or even has a dig himself. And even a liability defensively like Glen Johnson would be better defending that Leo Messi. How much joy would Kevin Davies get pulling off the centre back and challenging Messi in the air? RECIPE FOR DISASTER! HOW CAN'T YOU SEE IT?

Matthews, good player with even better potential. Glen Johnson - The dogs bollocks.

Hope that covers it. Was never looking for arguments, debate is good though. So gimme what you got TC. ;)

i don't watch that much of the premiership but whenever i have watched kelly for liverpool i am struck by his lack of pace and how poor he is at getting forward, In the clip you showed there its not like he pulls away from baines(who while a good fullback isn't the quickest), baines catches him and Kelly holds him off with his strength. I also think Kelly will be a good centre back but he isn't anywhere near Matthews at right back.

You said full back. Not right back.

Besides it's all about opinions. For example, although you gave valid reasons about Lahm, Ramos and Maicon I still think that they're all better right backs. Jose Mourinho thought that Ferreira and even Geremi were better right backs. I know that was a long time ago though.

Your opinion of Johnson is also vastly inflated through your own bias, just as ours is with Matthews. Like a lot of folk on here though I think that the EPL in particular tends to over hype players. I don't think that the gap between Johnson and many other right backs is as large as British media would have us believe.

Apart from falcao and at a push di natale, there weren't many, that's why those teams are playing in the europa league and not the champions league.

it's funny how if you have a good couple of games in the EPL you're one of the best in the world.

before this season Johnson had done very little and even during this season he has done very little. a goal against Chelsea and he is a top full back? look at Lucas, labelled a donkey until those games just before injury.

    Johnson is vastly overrated.

i have no doubt Matthews has it in him to be a better player than him.

he's doing well now, better than anticipated. lets wait and see how he fares next season in the champions league before we get really excited, then if the premiership vultures want to swoop they can bring the appropriate cash with them.

I really doubt Kenny is looking at Mathews much more conceivable that he has been looking at Kayal/Wanyama or even Forrest as these postitions don't seem to be filled at Liverpool just now, imagine how much we could get for Kayal off them if they are prepared to blow 8m+ on donkeys like Adam??
