Latest statement from Celtic clears it up in a much better fashion. The GB have dropped the "up the ra" bit and I don't see us getting in any trouble again from now on.

Of note that they didn't have any problem with ROH or PMFA as some have suggested they might.

    Eh...yes.

Stokesy, and his Da', are Republican to the core. You can be sure that they'll have no problems with Republican songs being sung by the Celtic support. No problems whatsoever.

Morons? You wouldn't possibly be referring to your fellow fans as 'morons'? Pathetic.

Couldn't see that posted anywhere but that's fine by me. I have no problem with dropping up the ra and neither do most other fans so let's just move on from this whole debacle..... :celt_2:

you're gonna deny there are morons in the fan base? common now

    Remember.... this guy?

every group of supporters have their share of morons. To argue otherwise is ludicrous. What marks a club is how it responds to unacceptable behavior.

He compared those who sing songs of Irish heritage as morons. Of course we have a few, such as the racist above, but he wrote off those who challenge the PC brigade as morons yet I'd suggest a large number of said people are intelligent.

Aye because commemorating the Easter Rising through song is on par with folk owning slaves......

I like all the rebel songs but the addons seem stupid. We should also ditch the * the queen, up the ira addon to Willie Maley as well.

I'm delighted that the club have come out and specified exactly what it is that got us into trouble. If we drop that add on (which we should anyway), then surely that will be the end of the whole debacle?

Change it to "Up The Celts", or "Ooh Ah Green Brigade" or something along those lines. As I said in an earlier post, "Up The RA" doesn't add anything to the Symphony.

I have no issues leaving the 'up the ra' bit out. I believe we are in broad agreement in that. However our songs about nationhood/strugle as a people/culture/history etc is more than acceptable. To compare these songs with slavery is moronic in itself sir !

I'm not sure he was comparing the two. Suggesting that times have changed and using slavery as a reference point doesn't necessarily mean you are comparing them. Merely highlighting that times change and what was acceptable 100 years ago, or even 20 years ago, isn't necessarily now.

Casual racism was acceptable up until the late 80's. You only have to watch older comedy shows to hear what would be considered racial slurs now. It's a different world and I can't say I'm against it.
