Were we not in for Djebbour at one point, but i remember people saying he was a bit of a hot head. Saw his goal against Arsenal and it was very well taken.

Ah know what your saying Hammy, but look at the success we had with Stan Varga, Ramon Vega, who were released by teams just like Fulham, turned out great signings for us. We even got big Reaper on, what was a low price then. No harm in having a look :50:

Don't agree with your assessment tbh, I think we would finish midtable in the prem if we played there. You are buying into the Premier league hype that SKY creates, there aren't to many players from mid to lower table premiership sides that I feel would improve our team.

I count four players in that team who I think should be starting week in and week out if we have no injuries; Matthews, Mulgrew, Forrest, and Wanyama. Only two of those players had been at the club for any amount of time, Wanyama and Matthews had just arrived and were still bedding in and if I remember correctly Wanyama was absolutely terrible. To try to compare us to Premiership sides based on preseason friendlies is pretty pointless, you don't really know how we would do unless we play one in Europe.

Celtic are championship standard as are Rangers. We are kidding ourselves if we think otherwise

Not interested unless he is a LOT better than what we have. We have lots of CHs who are top SPL/Championship standard. I honestly think when you weigh up all their pros and cons we have about 5 CHs of about the same standard. I think we need to get lucky to get a CH on a higher level. I want a really dominant CH with some pace.

Larsson was deemed not good enough for feyenoord, sutton was deemed not good enough for chelsea, id say they turned out ok. With all due respect this philosophy is poo!

You know something you are probably right.

Rogne has the most quality but he's always injured. Majstorovic has the experience but he's approaching his end, Loovens and O'dea aren't good enough.

Mulgrew is prone to mistake and the jury is still out on big Kelvin Wilson.

We've been crying out for at least one quality CB at least for years, I don't know about this guy.

I disagree I think we would finish comfortably mid table in the Premiership, its all hype. The top teams are very good but the bottom end of the Premiership is very poor. Sky advertise it as the best league in the world but La Liga has better top end teams and the Bundesliga has a better average standard. Obviously its all hypothetical because no one really knows how we would do down there but I think we could do well.

Rafik can be bigger hero than Bougy

    By EWAN SMITH
    Published: Today

ALGERIA coach Vahid Halilhodzic has tipped Rafik Halliche to make it big in Glasgow.

Central defender Halliche has been on trial at Celtic this week, hoping to secure a £500,000 move from Fulham and underline why he was once coveted by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Halilhodzic has tipped the powerful stopper to make a bigger impact on the SPL than former defensive partner Madjid Bougherra did at Rangers. He said: "The Celtic fans may not know a lot about Rafik right now, but if he signs for them they will quickly fall in love with him as a player.
"He's so powerful, quick and intelligent and, most importantly, knows how to defend.
"He's very similar to Bougherra in that he's not just a very capable defender but a great footballer too.
"I know Bougherra was loved by Rangers fans. They loved the commitment he showed in games, but Rafik has the potential to become an even bigger hero.
"He needs to play every week and a move to a club like Celtic would be perfect.
"Rafik can play in any league in Europe. But he's got a British mentality to defending. He does his job first and then shows his skill and I would be happy to give him a glowing reference if Celtic asked."
Halliche, who had his head split open after Egypt supporters attacked the Algeria team bus before a World Cup play-off in 2009, has played a total of 26 minutes for Fulham since a £1.3m move from Benfica in August 2010.
A series of niggling injuries have prevented him from making an appearance in almost a full calendar year.
And Halilhodzic added: "He's up there with some of the best defenders in European football, but my only doubt at the moment is his fitness.
"He needs to play every week to realise his potential.
"He's 25 now and he should be entering the peak seasons of his career.
"His talent is not in question If Celtic give him a chance they won't regret it."

I'd be quite happy if we signed him to be honest. I'll admit I've only seen him once for Algeria at the WC and I can barely remember him and I've maybe watched him at African cup of nations. But he's bein billed like he's Bougherra, I know Bougherra was a * but you can't deny he was a good player and defender this is why I'm excited about the prospect. And I also know the media will claim he's like Bougherra because he's Algerian but who are we to disagree if we've not seen him

Celtic are not Fulham, Feyenoord or Chelsea. Totally different team, totally different league, totally different style of play. So what is your point?

Worth a punt, surely. CH is a funny position. I've been reading this thread just waiting to refer to Stan Varga as an example of a similar signing. Someone has mentioned him though.
He's on trial, if he's that desparate and NL want's him, he should get a six month deal. He may be that 1 super centre half he desparately need. If not then let him go.
That should be the sole focus of all our transfer/scouting activity over January, A top, stand out centre half that will be able to help fulfill the potential of his chosen partner. I think K.Wilson T.Rogne and Chaz all have the potential to be a top 2nd CH. We really need a stand out leader of the defence though and they don't come cheap so a trial deal or loan is the most likely chance we have of getting someone in.

and those two were trials? i'll think you'll find that Sutton already won the EPL before coming here and Larsson fell out with his coach.

yes, players who are deemed not good enough for one club may thrive at another but how often does that happen? this guy is a risk. obviously the management team will make the call but i'm not too enthused. are you?

this guy has made one appearance for his club in a year. hardly outstanding.
