The shirt numbering price sales haven't been the same since Vennegoor of Hesselink left the club :56::56::56:

Progrebnyak would be absolute quality for us, a real top class striker in my opinion. Only problem is it would be really difficult to lure somebody like him up here away from the EPL when there will no doubt be other clubs down there looking at him if he is out of contract at Fulham.

Would also be happy to see Jordan Rhodes up here, although you're talking a fairly sizeable chunk of our transfer budget for a guy who's yet to prove himself at anything resembling a higher level. Would prefer to see us invest our money more wisely elsewhere.

Exactly. I'd be disappointed if we weren't trying to compete with Fulham, West Ham etc at that price.

For those comparing him to Boyd - he's nothing like him.

He's the future Scotland no.9 and i want him at Celtic.

We were looking for a big name striker at the time.

Every goal Jordan Rhodes scores he becomes more and more out our price-range unfortunately. I think he'll go for something like 7 Million. I could be wrong but I think that will be the case.

Progrebnyak will still be at Fulham buying Rhodes would not change that - They need to replace Clint" Dempsey.

So you'd prefer a 28 year old probably nearing the end of his career who'll have very little sell on value to a 22 year old who is one of the brightest young prospects in Europe who is already proven as a very good goalscorer who is sure to have a huge sell on value?

I'd love Rhodes, but we'd be stupid not to consider an early bid for Pogrebnyak. Wages won't be an issue if we get him for free.

I think 5 million would be closer to the mark, but still a good buy at that. What about Craig Mackail Smith ? Always liked the look of him too .

5million for a league 1 player ? no chance, far to much of a risk and he probably wont live up to the price tag.

Better going and snapping up a 2-4 million striker playing in some European league who will be just as good if not better. I know its a cliché term we want a proven European striker but its kinda what we need.
