I'm at a uni you probably wouldn't class as good i.e. not Glasgow or Strathy and they punish us for not using Harvard referencing properly

I'm sure other unis that you wouldn't class as 'good' do the same

    Referencing is horrible

I finish the essay then realise I have the bibliography still to do which takes ages and if I don't get it 100% correct then I get moaned at :54:

Tell me about it, * hate harvard standard referencing, i mean who cares what style you do it in, for 3 years now at uni ive lost 1/2 marks because my referencing isn't what they want it to be like and i actually do it the same as their supposed examples but "it isn't right"

Got a 5000 word essay due in 3 weeks and my lecturer told us we need at least 20 secondary sources and some primary sources, imagine the amount of referencing ill need to do for that essay :38: FML when it comes to writing essays.

Have fun in the library mate lol. Not looking forward to when I get to that stage, right now I can still write the essay initially, and then find references later haha.

Physics A Level question: "What length of german silver wire diameter 0.050cm is needed to make a 28ohm resister, if the resisivity of german silver is 2.2 x 10^-7 ohms per meter?" From what I figured it's 24.95m? Though I may be wrong?

Wow 20 secondary sources. That sounds like great fun

I'm only in my first year so we've got to do a minimum of 5 sources but i'm sure it'll get worse as I get into 2nd and 3rd year

I'm doing my choices for Uni (has to be in by Jan 2012) and I am split between two uni's for my first choice. My predicted grades for A Level are AAB but I will have to work hard as * to get them. The two uni's and courses are:

International Business at Strathclyde (A Level requirements ABB)

International Business, Finance and Economics at University of Manchester (A Level Requirements AAB)

Strathclyde is higher than Manchester in all the league tables for Business related courses but Manchester is more known as being a good university (23rd in the World or something) so I am split to which one employers would prefer and which one I would get the best degree in.

Obviously city wise the biggest benefit of being in Glasgow is to watch Celtic every week, but I've spoken to people in Manchester and the nightlife is supposed to be unreal and also the birds are meant to be class! It's also not too far away from Park Head either. Glasgow nightlife is really good as well so I have no real preference between the two city's.

Just asking for people's opinions on where you think I should go?

    Cheers

Your sources and you have to reference them

e.g. Author, Year, Title, Publisher name, Publisher location

That's a basic example, it gets more complicated with books with editors and online articles etc

Only my opinion mate but if Strathclyde is better than Manchester for business related courses then you're better going there. Strathclyde has a good reputation and is hard to get into so i'm sure employers would be impressed by a degree from there

The nightlife and birds in Glasgow are also very good :icon_mrgreen:

Yeh doing joint history/economics at aberdeen, in my third year so all my marks now go towards my final degree, at least economics doesn't require essays in 3rd year, only problem is they require advanced maths which is also a pain in the *.

To the guy about which uni, i know from a few friends that go to strathclyde the business department is very good. The nightlife in glasgow is pretty good, lots of different places to chose from. Ive matured now being in 3rd year and i don't go out a lot, focusing more on movies, MW3 and then work once the previous two have been completed :icon_mrgreen:

Sounds a pain in the *. Would it be much worse if you were doing something that was all research like History?
