I think McGeouch has the confidence to just step in and be a success. You don't get your debut at Parkhead and run the full length of the pitch, beating half a dozen defenders before slamming the ball into the very corner of the goal if youv'e not got confidence!

I really don't think pressure will affect him at all, he seems like the type who thrives on it, a very cocky and greedy player who just runs and runs and runs until he scores or someone stops him.

He's got a great pass and cross on him as well mind, so i'm not saying he never passes or anything, but being a bit greedy at that age isn't a terrible thing I don't think, I would love to see him get a few minutes vs the huns, would not be surprised if he scored but I highly doubt Lenny will put him on the bench and we can all fully understand that.

If McGeouch has the required talent and Lenny believes this then he will get his chance in a couple of games before the season ends.

If he can make a good and sustained impression (ala Forrest) then the future could be bright for him. For every Forrest there has been a million other's who don't make it though.

Its very difficult to break into the Celtic team as a youngster who has full internationals and players on massive wages in front of him who the Manager obviously feels a pressure to play.

He must look to go out on loan and to progress and develop if he's right at the back of the queue next year IMO.

thats the thing even just now he isn't right at the back of the queue he trains every day with the first team and is just on the outskirts of every first team squad

Training with the first team every day and being on the outskirts of the squad is fine. But if he's doing the same thing in a year's time then we call that stagnating.

If hes not good enough for Celtic to be in the squad then send him out to a place were he is then he'll come back a better player for it.

We'll see at the end of the season what looks more likely.

I would keep him here for next season and let him start some of the early cup games, then if hes still not getting any game time loan him out in january.

he has been in most traveling squads so he is competing for a place so loaning him out would be pointless and actually detrimental to his celtic career. loans are positive for players who aren't cutting it due to lack of quality which will only be improved upon with first team experience thats something that mcgeough isn't

loan = play in competitive & high level games = improve & develop = come back a better player.

stay at celtic = play a bounce game at Lennoxtown in a half arsed game infront of 2 people.

but why would you loan out a player who is competing for a place in the team it makes no sense you loan out players like toshney for example who isn't competing for a place and would benefit from going to a lower level club and getting first team experience.

I certainly wouldn't loan him out, from the evidence so far i would say he's good enough to play in the first team.

I also think McGeough is a great prospect and has certainly looked quality and lively when he has played. However if he isn't going to be regularly involved with the first team next season then surely a loan move to a lower SPL club would benefit him.

You only have to look at how well Welback, Cleverly, Sturridge and Wilshere have done since coming back from loans at smaller Premier league clubs to see how much the loan moves have benefited them. Getting a regular 90 minutes, whilst also having the responsibility of being 1 of the better players in the team could help McGeough like it did them.

However i think he is good enough to be involved next season, but it will require some players to leave maybe before he gets his chance as we have a lot of midfielders currently at the club.

He'll be learning alot from being involved with the first team. Hopefully see him get some decent game time in the run-in.

Some have unrealistic expectations when it comes to our youth set-up but from what i've seen and heard, McGeouch seems to have the ability to step up.

    Twardzik could be another.

If those two turn into first team regulars in addition to Forrest then that is a good return in the space of a few years any youth set up.

Exactly this. No mileage whatsoever in loaning him out.

I hope he starts at the weekend too, was a shame he never got on against the huns. At full time he came the closest to the fans and took a scarf and stood holding it and was probably on the pitch the longest clapping us, must have been gutted at not getting on.

Aye I noticed that as well.

In an ideal world we would have been a few goals up and cruising, and he would have came on and sickened the * with a goal.

Ah I'm sure his day as a hunskelper will come :celt_2:

If they are starting a young scottish guy in the middle of the park against out players and he is playing well surely the game against r*ngers was crying out for dylan mcgeouch who is alot better than mcabe

If Lennon will not start him when Celtic are 21 points clear then he is not going to start him i have seen may young talented lads coming through our system and never getting a crack ,i hope the lad gets his chance but like all the rest they have to leave celtic to make it in the game .

He's only 18 years old and he's came off the bench a few times this season. He wasn't going to start at Ibrox. McCabe only started as the huns had no other options. McGeough will get his chance when the league is won

Brilliant from dylan yesterday even though he wasnt in the squad, to wait at parkhead and sign alot of autographs and have pictures taken withe everyone, he must have been signing stuff and getting pictures taken for about an hour! Brilliant to see from the wee man. I love footballers who have time for the fans aswell.
