Keep. We've got a high-quality creative midfielder in Ki- and such are usually not cheap to buy. Today, despite the victory, we saw that our DM-s cannot pass too well. Ki is always going to be needed, alongside those players.

Since the board seem reluctant to give us any money whatsoever it looks like the only way we'll have funds is if we sell someone.

I've said yes because CM is easily our strongest position in terms of depth. If we lose Ki we have an option of Kayal, Ledley, Brown and Wanyama to play in his position. All of which are just as good if not better than Ki on their day.

So if sacrifices have to be made Ki seems like the obvious choice. He is at the moment probably our biggest asset on the transfer market. Not just for his ability but the Asian revenue he brings in. Ideally i wouldnt sell any player but if someone has to go its gonna have to be Ki.

Howcome with the likes of Paddy McCourt, his weaknesses are always discussed before his strengths but with others such as Ki its the opposite? I think he isn't suited to either our playing style or formation, where his lack of a work ethic is exposed. Earlier this season he said he loved playing with Kayal as he did all the defensive work he doesn't like to do. No wonder Kayal has been playing poorly if he's doing the job of two players! We just can't afford to play with a central midfielder who refuses to track back when we have the likes of Wanyama, Kayal, Brown, Ledley and good players in the under-19s who have a much better all round game. Ki has no pace, poor concentration levels, no ability to defend or tackle and is lazy.

Anyway that's my rant out the way :52: I think we should sell as I think he does have some great qualities but that he isn't right for this club. Would allow us to sell Cha too who I believe isn't good enough but is kept around partly because he is Ki's pal.

Depends on the money. But who would replace the creativity and tempo control?

Keep. He has massive talent and could become a top dog one day, still needs work though. A player with his skill and ability is pretty useful if you ask me. We can let our grinders play when they are needed e.g. on a cold tuesday night up there in Inverness on a frozen pitch.

Nakamura was not appreciated all the time when he was here - don't want to compare him to Ki, but you only know what you are missing when it's gone.

Is that a euphemism for his complete lack of any real drive or urgency?

Sell and the sooner the better - as he is one of our most tradable commodities and the one we can do without, IMO!

If an EPL came calling I would be looking for more than £7m-£8m. Go for £10m, as Lenny has mentioned recently enough he is a £10m player - so why not play the old Jim McLean card and talk his price up!

Add a nice wee sell on clause for good measure as well, then invest every penny in the team during the January window - a beast of a CB, a big ST and ANother MF to replace the man just sold - except this time, find someone with a bit of dig in them, as well as flair!

    Hail Hail

If our defence wasn't such a shambles at the moment, we would be playing Ki every game as a playmaker, and he would rip the SPL apart, but unfortunately, due to our defence, we need a midfield that can help out the defenders.

Kind of think it's the other way around. Kayal has been sht 80% of games he's played this season. That has magnified the deficiencies in Ki's game. Zidane wasn't great defensively either, but Makalele was still a beast. A playmaker + ball winner combo can work (eg Pirlo + Gattuso) but as soon as one of the two are off their game, the whole balance of the midfield becomes rubbish. Particularly in the SPL where you need that extra bit of bite. What I'm trying to say is I think Ki's played very well this year. Beram's largely disappointed. I'm a big fan of Beram and Ledley in particular, but they are limited players in terms of talent and technique. Ki could end up starting for any team in Europe except Barca. That being said, I say sell him if we get an offer of 8m+

Every good team has a player who controls the tempo of the game, i.e. Alonso for Real and Busquets for Barca and Carrick for United. If whole of the midfield was about real drive and urgency we would be in trouble i think.

If a big offer comes in, then fair enough, but we should be trying to keep the good young players that we have, wherever possible.

Sell but not in January, if we've got any chance at all of catching the Huns we need all our players fit and need to bring in some - not let any go - in Jan.

Don't think we'll get more than 3 mill for him anyway, he looked good at times last year but hasn't got back to his best form at all and the qualities I first saw in him - assurance,
composure, passing, have totally deserted him.
Add that to the fact that he's not the biggest or strongest of players, and gets bullied off the ball, I don't think anyone in England will want him. Not in the prem anyway, he might go championship or one of the lower Spanish teams where the slower pace, less physicality and emphasis on passing would suit him better.

the Doc will not give up until Ki is gone , ridiculous thread , and a lot of very short memories on here, a lot of dead wood to go first and Ki (as lennon state) one of the players to show he care so far, but hey Kayal have two good games after a shocking run , and Ki got to go, :31:

With the exception of Izzy, forrest, maybe brown, kayal, I don't think any of the current players are irreplaceable! Sure we would lose some talent but we wouldn't struggle to get players on par with what we have at the moment.
