Think most fans realise who has brought celtic to this level, as it can be traced back to strachan not being given money to spend when rangers were on there knees.Since then there has been error after error from peter i am a supporter lawell,as for desmond i am pretty sure that celtic is just a hobby for him when he is bored playing golf.Sure lennon has made mistakes but the problems at our club go alot deeper than manager and players and i hope we can one day get rid of them all.

You're spot on, our problems run far far deeper than Neil Lennon.

Again with the money argument. We have spent more money on players in the last 3 seasons than any other SPl club, rangers included. Over £21m has been spent, gross yes, but still its been given to other clubs to secure the registration of players. And we are third. So, if the board start throwing money at the problem, it will go away? Say we spend twice as much as we do, will we then finish second? Until we go into administration too that is. There has been enough spent to secure SPL titles. the players are good enough. It is the management team who let us down.

We should have been protesting after the last transfer window but in saying that, a lot of fans on here were happy with what we had:rolleyes:

celtic have had a policy were they lie to the fans about getting big names in , then proceed to bring in four or five arseholes in at say mabye 3 or 4 million then punt a mcmanus or macdonald and turn a 1 million profit.Go back through the windows mate and you will see celtic have spent * all

In an ideal world the board and the coaching staff would be replaced.

Going by performances yes. But quality wise I would disagree.

I can appreciate the agrument that we spend more than the rest of the SPL therefore we should be good enough. But Rangers have also spent a lot on their team, they just havent added recently. Our net spend is what is important and that is zero. That is what is important because it reflects what the board is willing to put into the team, and what a manager has to do to fund transfers.

Debt is not a dirty word, and there is no reason a company the size of celtic cannot run a small deficit. This silly notion of zero debt has cost us the league the last 3 years running and means nothing. A few million debt is more than managable and does not mean we going down the path of rangers.

Our board have made it clear they are simply not willing to fund the club any more than they already have. This means Europe is a write off straight away. Furthermore it means if Lennon leaves, we will spend the absolute minimum to get another unproven manager in to get rid of all the freebies and cheapies we currently have. Then he needs to replace them with him freebies and cheapies. And if he wants a penny to spend he needs to try and punt Izzy, Ledley, Kayal and Hooper to anyone who would pay for them.

This is not a defence of Lennon, but I dont see why we can assume anyone coming in will have more credentials or experience than Lennon. He will be asked to build a team with nothing while the board continue to tell us all how massive a club we are.

(On a side note, this idea that we have the best team in the league is based on absolutely nothing at all. You dont lose 3 in a row because you have the best players)

well it wouldnt be hard for celtic to spend more than the other teams as rangers are skint and the rest cant compete with celtic ,but this board has no ambition we have zero debt and all they bother about is the debt is kept to a minimum while a rangers team is going for 4 in a row and our major shareholder doesnt bother showing up at agm meetings and i think thats 3 in a row for him as well he hasnt shown his face ,the problems of the club are at the top and wish we could have a clean sweep and get a new board who can show a bit of ambition and get a manager who has a good track record and give him some decent money to spend .

Lennon wanted to sell McGeady though. Listen, i'm not trying to defend the board- they could and should do more. They should have spent more bringing in an actual football manager, for a start. But what really irritates me is when folks blame the board in order to excuse the manager. That is unfair. The board don't pick players or tactics, the manager does. the board aren't responsible for motivating the team. I think our squad is good enough to not be floundering down in third. But we are, and it is down to the manager. I agree with sween and others that the board are unlikely to appoint a top manager, who would cost money, and are unlikely to fund any personnel changes. But at this stage I'm starting to think that a bag of potatoes with a dictophone spouting Jock Stein catchphrases taped to it could do a better job with this side than Lennon does.
